Hello everyone,

So here is my situation, I have a 3G 8GB with FW 3.0 WAS jailbreaked locked to vodafone.

A week earlier I noticed my battery gets depleted after 100% charge over night to 1%, I discovered this when my iPhone was near a PC sound speaker, there is a continues signal sound like its searching for something. I dont recall that I downloaded anything recently but some ring tones from cydia.

So accordingly I took from Itunes backup for my contacts, sms, etc... Restored my iPhone and without jailbreaking it or restore the backup, everything was working just fine, now as soon as I restore the backup from Itunes I get the same problem again... I tried the restored thingy a couple of times but still same problem, so it has to be something in the settings which is backed up in Itunes,

Ofcourse all my apps now is erased but I'm sure that along with this backup there is some info or settings for my apps is included...

I was wondering if anyone could help or give an idea what might this be.. right now I dont care about any thing but my contacts, is there any good way or app to backup my contacts only?

any help would be very much appreciated..

If you still have your iPhone backup, there is a windows only tool that is not free but can selectively restore only part of your iTunes backup.

Otherwise it is possible to do this for free but you need SSH and a free tool to decode the original data from the mdbackup files. It's quite laborious to do this by hand.

Sadly I had a backup and I wanted to purchase this software I found a couple, but the damn Itunes erased all my backups for some reason but I don't remember clicking OK when it asked to create new Itunes & erase old data.

Luckily I had an earlier contacts in my outlook I just synced those but lost a few

Yeah I really think Apple should put up a big warning about setting up a phone as new will overwrite the existing backup.

Ok I restored again but this time I updated my outlook contacts and re synced, now everything looks good but I lost all my sms notes and most important the recognized text or non English words used in typing... iPhone has to learn all over again..

Now Im thinking b4 i Jailbreak to upgrade the firmware we will see what will happen...

Just wanted to post the updates of my problem:

I discoverd that nothing is wrong with my phone as it was a network provider problem, the thing is that one day i changed my plan from iPhone package to another one, but this other plan wasnt made for iPhone and had different "Data Plan" accordingly the sales man told me because I was on iPhone package B4 it the "Data Plan" will be included for free or the same price I used to pay for my data plan, but for somereason either it was a system problem or he was just a noob; he told me that he couldnt find the option to add the "iPhone Addon" on the system.

Uptill now I have no data plan on my phone and thats what made my problem and i havnt noticed it b4 cuz most times I rely on WiFi access, but when I'm out of WiFi coverage my phone mail tries to connect continuously but there is always no internet available....
