1013 Error Attempting to Restore

hi i just got an iPhone from my friend yesterday..he had att so he never jailbroke or unlocke it. however i tried to jailbreak it right now and when i shift+restore it loads up the iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore file. however right after the loading goes away, i get a "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored (1013) error"

i've tried it a few times, different computers, but i'm not very knowledgeable of iPhones and all

i have an 8gb iPhone 3G,
-iTunes 8
-iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore
-Current iPhone firmware: 2.2.1

unfortunately that option didn't do that much..nothing at all actually =\ am i perhaps using an incorrect firmware version of somesort?

Hi. You are trying to restore to firmware 2.2. The problem is that you have firmware 2.2.1 on your iphone. Error 1013 is a baseband error.

It means that you cannot downgrade back to 2.2 because its baseband
(02.28.00) is now earlier than the one you currently have on your iphone (02.30.03)

Technically speaking, you have actually successfully installed 2.2 on the iphone, but the baseband is still 02.30.03.
What you can do is either restore back to 2.2.1 or kick the iphone out of recovery mode. It will then boot as normal to 2.2.

Either way, your iphone cannot be unlocked using yellowsn0w.
I recommend you restore to 2.2.1 as there is nothing more that can be done to unlock. You won't be able to unlock it for a while yet but it can still be jailbroken using QuickPwn.

what is "sn0w4ngel" and when is it going to be released?

by the way i WAS able to jailbreak using QuickPwn-225-2. does that still mean i won't be able to sim unlock until "sn0w4ngel" is released?

Hi. Sorry, ignore that. I was talking about something else.
There is no useable unlock on the horizon for the moment.
You won't be able to software unlock for a while yet.
It all depends on whether someone can find a new exploit or use up another existing one.

understanding the circumstances, i simply purchased a sim attachment that supported 2.2.1 firmware. i asked some of the other people on ebay who bought it for 2.2.1 and they confirmed that it worked, so i guess that's my only option for now. thank you for all your help!
