[Ziphone] my iPhone has die !
I'm not going to panic...yet!
I had a jailbroken iphone using ziphone. I when ahead and tried to install ziphone and over the old one and now the only thing that i see on the screen is the logo of ziphone and it says "installing base apps....." and its been like this forever now. The only thing i can do it hold the power button and the home buttom to restart the phone. When i do, i get the screen with a bunch of scrolling text then it goes back to the logo of ziphone!!! iTune doesnt ever pick up the iphone when i put it in the dock so i can't hit the restore button inside iTunes.
please someone help me. THank you

Put it in DFU mode and restore it to 1.1.4 and use PwnageTool instead.
Ziphone is obsolete as you won't be able to upgrade to the Firmware 2.0 when it will be publicly available.

really? Ok i will switch once i get my iphone back.
I when ahead and clicked on DFU mode in ziphone but the big problem I'm having is that my computer is not recognizing the iphone so ziphone can't find it.
What can I do so that my computer can find the iphone? Its in the dock but nothing happens.
I really appreciate your help.

I got exactly the same problem as madmax21. I've already tried to put iPhone in DFU mode, but iTunes pops up a message like this
An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again. An unknown error occurred (2005).
Suggestions?
thx

The Problem is sure, that you put the iPod Firmware on it, and not the iPhone Firmware. :p

You're right, Dave. I just restarted my PowerBook and it worked.

When trying to boot the iPod (3rd Gen) it displays a red X inside a red circle, the apple logo is briefly displayed. Corrupted OS they tell me.
What is DFU mode, and how do I get there? I have tried all the different solutions (changing USB port, rebooting everything, new iTunes 8...etc)
When connecting the iPod to the puter, it says something about DFU in the "found new hardware" balloon, mounts drivers, and tells me my hardware is ready to use.
However, iTunes (and Win Explorer) cannot recognize it unless I hold enter-menu buttons till the apple logo comes up a second time. Sometimes iTunes says it is preparing the iPod for "recovery". Don't disconnect.
Other times is gives me the same message as exadevager has said. One way or another nothing gets done to the iPod.
Any suggestions?
I have held enter-play/pause for 20 seconds after seeing the apple logo, and also tried immediately after the blank screen preceding that. Returns to the X in a circle.

One more thing: the screen backlighting does not illuminate as long as the USB cord is attached to the puter. Only way I can get it to light up is cycling the HOLD switch (not tethered to the puter), then trying a standard reset.
