[Ziphone] 3.9BL > hope there is a way back to 4.6
All because of the great work by Geo, Dev, Elite, we today are enjoying unlocked BL4.6 phone. With total respect to Zibri for Ziphone. Great app too.
So Ziphone downgraded my BL 4.6 to 3.9. There is no way to upgrade (yet).
Picture this, Apple in its next firmware update does a Check of BL version and Serial Number (yes it can do). And if BL is not 4.6, it can potentially make the phone a real brick. Technically very much possible.
I have immense faith in Geo, Devs, Elites. Hopefully they will do something and stop Apple from potentially doing this.
What do you guys think?

Possible but unlikely.
First of all, that would be ridiculous. You bought your phone and you can whatever you want with it. It's not Apple the one who says: "You can't use this phone, so I'll brick it.". That would be a horrible marketing approach.
Second, Apple will never mess with the bootloader (by trying to upgrade it or anything like that). It's too risky. If the user disconnects from the USB port on the middle of a bootloader upgrade, the phone would be definetly bricked. And that means tons of people complaining at Apple Stores.
Apple sucks.
Microsoft rules.
TurboSIM-like methods? No way.
- Unlocked Week 47 1.1.3 iPhone, baseband 04.04.05_G.
- Bought in Minneapolis, MN;
- Currently on TIM carrier.

I mean a plausible case is
if the Serial number and current BL (is 3.9 when it should be 4.6), the Apple's firmware update/restore terminates with an Error and not let these phone get new updates.

my own optinion: Apple dont want to brick the phone's of jailbrakers, why?
apple has sold much more phones to jailbreakers than to real AT&T customers.
with firmware 1.1.3 they unbrickt all of the "Bad IMEI" Phones..(and i dont think this happent to legit customers)
i think apple is intrested to keep these phones alive, the comunity of jailbreakers made this phone usable, without jailbreak its noting more than an normal Phone whit touch.
just my two cents(eurocent's hrhr, who care's about dollar
)

bah, if any check will be done in next upgrades, looks MUCH MORE plausible to me that it will scan for a 3.9FakeBlank bootloader, and brick the phone (0049).
3.9FakeBlack is a REAL evidence of tampering.

dunno why but i really dont see big risk if apple would decide to upgrade BL on phone... they have pretty much same method as ramdisk exploit, they load up ramdisk and then execute things that updates your phone... i guess difference is that they dont use any script for it but itunes sends commands manualy, but general idea is same. Ramdisk can run compleatly independed on iphone, if they would script it, there wouldnt be any risk of bricking BL unless you run out of battery on phone
im quiet sure (didnt try it tho), that for all this ziphone alike unlocking software, that once ramdisk is loaded on iphone you can unplug it from USB and ramdisk will still finish the job, unless you run out of battery in this time but what are chances for that? 1st you would need to be unlucky to run out of electriciy or cat unpluging cable and 2nd you need to be unlucky that also your battery is so low that cant stand of what? 2-3 min of work...

So if we are assuming that apple will scan for the 3.9fakebank in the next version
then let also assume that the Dev Team will come up with a idea
to give back the correct information to the apple server as well.

i dont believe they will update BL 3.9 to 4.6 there are millions of iphones, probibly many will hv problems on the process, and apple has to replace those iphones bricked...
and.... why apple will want to brick millions of iphones??? what reasonable reason??
