Default Will old 3g att sim work in iphone? if so how?

My current phone from att uses the newest sim card. my iphone is used so someone activated it before me. I want to use my sim card in my phone to use in the iphone. I jailbroke the phone so I thought it would work because it is from att. Any help on how to use my sim card in the iphone would be appreciated.

If its jailbroken you should be able to stick in your old att/cingular sim without any problems.

When you upgraded to 1.1.3, it updated the baseband (modem firmware). As of today, the version of the lockdownd that works with that firmware has not been patched. Therefore, you will only be able to use a valid iPhone SIM with the phone (and activate it through itunes).

In order to do what you want, you would have had to NOT upgrade to 1.1.3 through itunes, but rather "soft upgraded" via the jailbreak 1.1.3 upgrade procedure. The jailbreak upgrade leaves the older modem firmware in place as well as the old lockdownd file that has been patched.

I'm sure someone will come up with a patched version of lockdownd at some point. Until then you can still do what you listed, but you will basically have an iPod touch.

Can I downgrade the baseband? Or will that just complicate and screw up my phone even more?
