I see in some ways that this ZiPhone unlocked and worked for many but also for many broke the phone, without doubt! Why this thread when there is one stickies explaining CLEARLY what the problem is???

I do not want to post anything inflammatory but as far I can see, only ZiPhone screwed iPhones irreversible! I am a guy who reads manuals when buys something and follows the procedures step by step with no mistake (pending the explanation is clear).
I had a problem with my WiFi and some advised me "Use ZiPhone, use ZiPhone!", it was like "Screw your iPhone, screw your iPhone"... and I did as many, many others and yes it did screwed my iPhone irreversible.
Plenty of info in this forum that ZiPhone crap locked while doing a job and then all they had was minor 0, major 20 or whatever scrolling screen! I did not hear anyone to recover from from a ZiPhoned phone! There is a term for it, go figure!

If I would be the admin at this site I would probably remove all crap about a useless and flaky software like ZiPhone where other calls it "Ridiculously easy..."! Yes it is true, ridiculously easy to screw your iPhone for GOOD!
But Zibri could be happy about it, because I am not the admin and he can still hope and expect to get donations for screwed iPhones.
I tried to post in his blog telling him about the problems but guess what, it was not approved, if he wants to make money he must display only shinny stuff about his abilities! I am just tired!

I had to edit the thread to add: YES, it is all ZiPhone problem and nobody should use it when there are many other methods out there. I am not endorsing anyone.

    I had the Grey Wifi Problem for couple of day, here is what I did;

    1.Restore to 1.1.4
    2.Use ILiberty+ to A/J
3.loaded BootNeuter Manually and installed 3.9BL
    4. Run ILiberty+ and load the Dev Team WiFi Fix Payload.
    5. once that was done. reboot and Wifi is back

Hope this works for all your WiFi Problems.

You should read this post before give an advice, we said we don't have the grayed out problem. Is a totally different issue.

OK, so I have been having problems connecting to any wifi hotspot since I used ziphone.

It seems since I started upgrading from 1.1.2 to 1.1.4 I've had problems connecting to wifi spots.

But when I tried putting my iphone in the freezer for ten minutes and tried again the problem was instantly fixed until the iphone warmed up again.

I mean, it instantly scanned and found all wifi spots in my apartment complex and instantly connected to my wireless router.

If you ask me it seems like a hardware problem.

How many of you have had your iphones warrantied for this reason? Is it a well know problem amongst the genius bar techs?

Ok - same problem here ! Not going to provide much help, but I figured I might as well give my data...

    OOTB 16gb 1.1.4 iPhone
    used ZiPhone 3.0 to activate/unlock/jailbreak
And I'm pretty sure I have the 3.9 BL
No idea how to check the rest (week number etc...)

I got my iPhone YESTERDAY ! Everything worked fine for 24 hours, then all of a sudden WiFi didn't show any networks and the few times I managed to connect, it dropped back to EDGE after 5 seconds... Been reading on the web for 3 hours, and ended up sticking my iPhone in the freezer for 10 minutes... only to find it perfecty picking up WiFi after that !

I live in Switzerland, so warranty is not an option for me... I really hope this is fixable by software !! Next time I go to the US, anyone knows if I can warranty my iPhone at an Apple store, even though I never activated it ? (I would obviously re-virginize it as well as technically possible)

To me it looks like the grey wifi issue and the unstable wifi issue *may* have the same root cause.

If a flashing anomaly (by ziphone's unsafe ramdisk operations for example) causes your active table's cal values to get whacked but still leaves your active table's version number intact, it could account for the overheating and instability. Your Marvell wifi chip could be using values completely off the chart.

I'd love to see the wifi tables for those of you experiencing overheating and instability. If you could run "norz myparams.bin a03f0000 10000" and send me myparams.bin, I can compare your tables to good tables.

    Code:
    # ./norz myparams.bin a03f0000 1000
    geohot's nor dumper
all your norz are belong to us
super fast...just the way i like it
    Dumping: 1FFFFFFF-20000FFF

    Any idea ?
