I use an original usb ipod cable (this one came with my first gen ipod nano), but I'm not sure that the specs on both cables are different.

WiFi flakeyness further news: I have no problem atall with my Wifi at work. But since my Ziphone 1.1.4 upgrade it doesn't work with my home wifi network, I can join but it just craps out. Not only that but with Wifi activated on my iPhone at home my Powerbook loses it's wifi connection too! The moment I disable Wifi on my iPhone my powerbook can connect again (after about 30 seconds)!

    Very interesting comments!:

    1)

have you ever used any kind of charger with it that wasnt the one that came with it?? what i mean, have you ever plugged it into another power supply that wasnt the a/c adapter or the iphone cable.. if so, the difference in voltage wouuld fry your phone....
As marx said, I use exactly the same iPod nano 1st. gen cable, is quite similar to the original iPhone cable, no differences.

    2)
Now, does this mean that this is a hardware issue? (I'm thinking on handset getting too hot, thermal paste or insulation thing... maybe this could be fixed by opening the iPhone...)
Yes! I also think this is caused by some kind of thermal issue. That is why it works perfectly the next day after being off all night long.

Ponchis, this is a different type of wifi problem, in order to fix this, you must use your EDGE connection to get a software through the installer.app called BossPrefs, then use it for activate your "NO WIFI", most of the people get they iPhone fixed with this method.

I already try the BossPrefs and another one called Services to enable the Wifi but i get the same No wifi.
In fact i was using the iphone for 1 month with version 1.1.3 and perfect wifi, and i was using BossPrefs by the moment the wifi stop working and saying No WIFI. I tried to use this BossPrefs but nothing happens, so i try to re-install version 1.1.3 and then do Ziphone.. and then NO WIFI, then i restored version 1.1.4 and Ziphone and... then still NO WIFI.
    Help please !!
I am 99% sure that is not a hardware problem, becouse my wifi was working perfectly.

Ponchis, have you tried this: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=33566 ?

Osval, so we have almost the same information:
    1. have only used original apple ipod / iphone cable or iphone dock
    2. tried to unlock before the proper unlock was even available
    3. phone will constantly reboot when turning wifi on
    4. wifi will work properly for 5-15 minutes if phone is off for 8-12 hours

For what I've been reading on Apple's support section (apple.com/support), some people are making appointments at apple stores. The geniouses are replacing their phones. Maybe Apple is aknowledging this issue as hardware related.

What should we do since we are not in a country where the iPhone is officially offered?

    You are right marx!,

You are describing exactly the same symptoms I have with my iPhone, EXACTLY! even that the phone constantly reboot when you turn the wifi on, this is very annoying.

For the moment I think we have to wait for a solution or just keep our wifi turned off. I don't have any other ideas in mind.

Here in Paraguay you can buy the iPhone from the Apple Authorized dealer but they warn you that you DON'T have any warranties, so if something goes wrong with your phone, you are fuc**d up.

Let see if we can find a solution some day

Hmmm, same problem over here. Difference is, sometimes the wifi mysteriously comes back but it won't automatically connect to my router like it used to do. So... I go into settings and click on the wifi settings and the phone locks up and then reboots. Then, in the middle of rebooting it reboots again and when it finally comes up the phone is frozen on the slide to unlock screen. I have to manually reboot several times before the phone finally comes up. Then FINALLY when the phone comes back up I go to settings to see "no wifi" again and I can't even click on it. I have done a full restore about 10 times and still no luck.
As you can see marx, this is a mix between our problem and the "NO WIFI" problem, pitifully we can't go to any store and get our iPhones changed for a new one.

In one of the comments someone said that the "genius" told him his antenna was fried, I think this guy at genius bar just told him that because it was more simple to change it than try to find a real solution.

marx, please keep me updated in case you find something new!
