Discuss why would you want to downgrade your baseband ? at the iPhone "2G" (Rev. 1) - Hackint0sh.org; from version 4.x to 3.x ... i cant see why?...

The baseband is responsible for locking the phone to a specific network. The firmware is responsible for providing overall functionality, which is really the OS the runs the iPhone. The current version of baseband 4.x is still not hacked yet.
