Default [Warranty]Unlocked 8gb 1.1.4 - Minor problem with touch screen (not from unlocking)

    Hey guys,

Still trying to wrap my head around all the info on here especially concerning restoring the iphone for repair work.

I bought an unlocked 8gb with 1.1.4 firmware. No clue as to what firmware it originally came with or what original BL version it came with. The phone's screen works except for typing. a few keys don't seem to work. No signs of any scratches at all on the phone to show if it was dropped or not. It was purchased brand new a few weeks ago.

I wanted to attempt taking it to apple store for repair/replacement. What steps do i need to take to make sure it's back to original? Am I screwed if I don't know original firmware/BL version it came with?

it does not matter what FW version was OTB, what you need to make sure is what BL version was OTB.

The good news is that right now EVERYTHING is reversible via software, so if it was OTB boot loader 4.6 and on the unlock process it was downloaded to 3.9 you can still update via software

did you unlocked the phone or was it sell to you unlocked?

I had that same problem last year.... Brought it to apple store n got it replaced straight away.... No questions asked. Is not because of unlocking, is just a defect.

Ps: is gonna get worst, as half of my screen stopped working after 2 weeks after the initial problem

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Yes, it was already unlocked when I got it which is why I don't know what OTB it was. How can I find out?

Good to hear at least once I restore it that it's easy to get it replaced. The few keys on the keyboard that don't work are pretty important and irritating not to have it working.

I think just restore it and activate it you'll be fine. Because it is a manufacturing defect, they will change it for you

what are the 4 and 5 digits of your serial number, that will give you the week of production

there you can see if your BL was 4.6 or 3.9

Sorry for late reply. The 4th and 5th digit of my serial number is:

    51

How do I know now what BL it was?

51 is 4.6 BL. Just use Boot Neuter (from installer) to bring you back to 4.6 (you are probably at 3.9 FB). then do a restore to 1.1.4 and u should be set.
