Default [Warranty] iPhone to original state - Can Apple tell it was unlocked?

I have ran into some hardware problems with my iPhone. I contacted Apple Care and they offered to send me a box to send the phone in to them, despite not having activated with AT&T.

The representative warned that if the phone has been unlocked, they will simply return it. If I do a restore with iTunes, is there anyway Apple can tell it was unlocked? I saw a feature in iLiberty+ that upgrades the bootloader to 4.6 (stock). Is that something I should do?

Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.

what is your original bootloader version? Must be bootloader original dude...

bootloader is the most important and they definitely check on that.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

I think my bootloader is at 3.9 FB right now. I restored to the most recent 1.1.4 from iTunes. Most recently I used iLiberty+ to unlock the phone, but I have previously used Iplus and a couple other methods in the past.

Not sure what my bootloader was originally, I just know my phone came with 1.1.1.

if it came with 1.1.1 you should have plain 3.9, not FB.

Now that I think of it, it was a launch iPhone. Does that still mean it should have plain 3.9 boot loader?

So I should restore to 1.1.4 and set the bootloader to plain 3.9?

I ran a search on how to load the bootloader to 3.9 stock but I didn't find anything. Any ideas?

    Thanks Ikuwara,

With a more thorough search I found these steps in the refurbish thread:

    1) Erase BB
    2) Upgrade to 4.6 BL
    3) Restore to 1.1.4

As far as I can tell, all these steps can be done with iLiberty+. I don't see a package that will set the BL to 3.9 stock. I installed BB Info and got this info:

    Model: iPhone1.1
    Model Number: MA712LL/A
    Baseband: Present

    Baseband

    Modem Firmware: 04.04.05_G
    EEPROM Version: 208
    EEPROM Revision: 1
    Boatloader Version: 3.9_M3S2

No, just use itunes to restore to 1.1.4. Besides, at this point (without Pwned) you can't upgrade from 3.X to 4.6 and your phone was originally 3.9, so what for?
