[Virginizing] using SSH only
My iphone is not recognized by my PC and does not go into DFU or recovery mode. Not a single application can see it .....
The only access i have is through WiFi and SSH.
Is there a way to re-virginize my iphone while exclusively using SSH. I am thinking of loading an original firmware file (ipsw) and run it somehow through a command line or load it somewhere where it would be launched and run at reboot time (i believe this is the way ITunes works with the ipsw files).
I also noticed that the ipsw is in fact a zipped file so i am wondering if i should unzip and load it to the iphone or if i should load it as an ipsw file.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Installer would indeed be an option but i have not found an application that would do the trick.
My iphone was originially 1.1.2.
Would you know a source and an app that would restore factory settings?

Viginizing is a term used for those who had an iPhone at 1.0.0-1.0.2 firmware and unlocked it using old method (with iUnlock or unlock-fast.pxl or AnySIM 1.02 ) where seczone was corrupted. In the process of "Virginizing" this is corrected and after a restore to current firmware your iPhone can be unlocked. Not virginizing often leads to bricks when upgrading.
You have an OOTB 1.1.2. There is no virginizing for this version. So as far as i Know, you have to use iTunes to restore to recent firmware and get it unlocked.

Thanks for your reply. This is exactly what i am looking for...restore to recent firmware ... but without Itunes. just uploading the ipsw file to the iphone and run the restore from it using ssh.

You'll need iTunes to update.
Otherwise you'll have to use the 1.1.3 SoftUpdate from nate or Devteam.

Thanks i will try that...but i cannot seem to find a repository with the app. Even read that this was removed as it was creating a lot of pb...
Any help?

This was a Pre-Jailbreak solution, but was causing a lot of problem because of the newly introduced mobile user used for running apps.
So, forget about the SoftUpdate.
I think you can try to turn it into DFU mode by unplugging the dock cable, turning if off, then keep the Home button pressed and plug the Dock cable, don't release the Home button until it shows the DFU screen.
