Default Virginizing the BB: what's the point?

Hi all. I have an out-of-the-box 1.0.2 that has never been updated, unlocked with Unlock and running with Vodafone IT. Sometimes, after boot up, an error message says "Incorrect SIM". Shut down and reboot and then it works perfectly. This happens one time every 4 - 5 bootups, but this is the only problem i get. Now i'm thinking to go foward with 1.1.1 as soon as a free app will be avaiable. In the meantime i'm reading posts about revirginizing the BB to undo the changes that Unlock made (and that will make the iPhone bricked after the update), there is a bit of confusion in my head...
    I'm reading about three opinions:
    1) Reflashing the BB with ieraser and the secpack from the 1.0.2 firmware package
    2) Reflashing as above but only to mess up the BB, then force iTunes to do the correct work to be sure that every single bit will be restored at factory state (they say a 10 bits hash will be left with teh first method)
3 Buying iPSF and execute it from 1.0.2 and then update. With 1.1.1 jailbroken the bb is still unlocked and running.
    What's you opinion?
    Thanxxx

This is a good question. I have been reading and reading posts and threads in multiple forums and I have this same question that remains unanswered. I am in 1.0.2 and did the iUnlock a month ago. Everything is working fine but I do want to upgrade to 1.1.1.

I am considering in buying an IPSF license this is the question: as IPSF 1.6 already unlocks 1.1.1, should I just proceed with the upgrade, jailbrake, install IPSF and then unlock or do I need to first install IPSF in 1.0.2 and do the unlocking from there?

As I understand, to run IPSF on 1.0.2 after iUnlock, we need first to "virginise" the phone (or just the modem firmware)...

That's the way I did it and that's how they describe it in their tutorial. The process requres a phone at 1.0.2. I also upgraded to 1.1.1 first, just to downgrade again to follow the dev teams path (with the link to be made before the upgrade)

    Yes.

    That's how it works.
