    Default Virgin v1.0.0 phone (7R734). How should I unlock?

    Hi,

    I just got a 4GB model (i actually got in 2 months earlier but received it now) and I think it is version 1.0.0 (or 1.0.1).

    Can somebody tell me if I can upgrade to 1.1.1 and unlock? And if so, what method should I use?

    Should I upgrade to 1.0.2 and then 1.1.1, or straight to 1.1.1 (when itunes prompts me)

    As I understand, the procedure is difficult (for now) on Windows, so I will ulock using a friends mac. Will this be a problem when I later connect to windows to:

    * Sync my contacts
    * Add music
    * Add Applications ???

    Sorry for the dumb questions, but nobody is talking for v1.0.0 OTB phones and I really don't want to mess this up (since I'm not in the US)

    TIA for any answers

    use iNdependance on the mac version 1.2.4
    update it to 1.0.2, prep it for an update to 1.1.1 to be able to jailbreak / activae it in 1.1.1. then follow all instructions to update it to 1.1.1, then jailbreak and activate and run AnySim 1.1 vuia instruction in independance, really easy on teh mac.

    get indepndance on the mac, install it and play round with it before using it so you know what you are doing, make sure and read the Help files, and search for threads in the forum about independance and 1.1.1, when you plug in your iphone it will tell you what condition it is in and what to do,

    OR

    you can leave it at 1.0.2 and unlock it with AnySim 1.1 via independance or ibrickr or whatever method you feel confortable doing

    you'll need to download the 1.0.2 restore files and use independance to install AnySim, you can get both files easily by seaching here or google,

    good luck and please take your time, and RTFM's

    Thank you for the quick response.

    I will not be doing the unlock (as I don't have the guts and the mac-experience), but a friend of mine (who has unlocked his with the command line tool).

    So to get it straight (just for the update part). I update to 1.0.2 (with the shift/option button pressed) and then follow the guide in iNdependence? right?

    After all this, I can connect it to windows and install apps? Or do I need a mac for that too (since iBrickr does not yet support 1.1.1)? This part is a bit confusing (and important for me since I won't have the mac around after the unlock...)

    *fingers crossed*
