    hi there,

sorry to add to this - but I would be really very grateful for any advice out there.
I have just received my new iPhone and is a 1.0.2 version.

Would I be recommended to leave at 1.0.2 and go for the old crack or should I upgrade to 1.1.1 and then use the new cracks.

I would be ever so grateful for any advice on what people think is the optimal solution.

    Many thanks,

    Migs

Hello from Ottawa, guys i got my iphone about 3 weeks ago and used anySIM1.0.2 but i dont recommend unlocking using AnySim1.0.2 or iUnlock because apparently it damages teh baseband (by damages i mean you can use it now, my iPhone works perfectly. everything works. BUT if i ever want to update it will brick my phone). I havent read much of the anySim1.1 material but if the sticky on the first page isn't lying then it says the new unlock with 1.1 will not damage your baseband.

With that said. I had trouble getting my phone into recovery mode as well. Few tips. Close itunes, turn on your phone and plug it into your computer (via USB cable provided) then hold Power and Home button. Try that let me know if it works.

PS bigger tip READ and research as much as possible because something you do on a whim might screw you later on. Cheers

PPS i used the guide by profit42, followed it to a T and WORKED perfectly. call in/out, text in/out, wifi, edge, IMEI intact etc..

Hello from Australia - and thank you for the advice.

I am definitely going to be reading every sticky/thread that I can to make sure that I don't completely screw it up.

I was thinking if I can get something that doesn't mess up the baseband that that would be a safer? way - but the "old" crack does seem to have some advantages as more people already have it and will know more about any problems that may arise?

I was looking at the AnySim1.1 and wondering about that - it says it can do a 1.0.2 or a out of the box 1.1.1 - I was just wondering if my OOB 1.0.2 was updated to 1.1.1 if that is the same as an OOB 1.1.1? In which case that may be the way to go - more research is definitely the way forward.

I have had a look at the Profit42 website - and this doesn't work for me at work (which I am at the moment) as we have IE6 and not allowed to install other browsers....

Again, many thanks for your advice and help - it is very much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Migs

Hi i've a 1.0.2 OOB in transit to melbourne. If you have a mac use iNdependence and anySIM 1.1. there are instructions in the help menu of iNdependence on how to unlock an OOB 1.0.2.

    cheers
