Unlocking 04.02.13_G (1.1.2 FW 4.6 Bootloader)
Every day i log in and look around to see the latest news and every day I find more and more posts, how do I? when will? 1.1.3 coming! etc etc etc....
So lets address a few points.
The dev team does a wonderful job, the best they can so give them a break and stop asking!
04.02.13_G (Bootloader 4.6) might never be hacked! Why? Because the dev team are hoping that they can exploit a weakness they found in it, but can only do so when it is updated. The update is up to Apple (who have thrown a spanner into the workings for the moment). Apple might not bother updating this bootloader, provided it is functioning as anticipated with no bugs. Therefore at the moment, the unlock is Apple dependent and Apple don't want unlocked iphones. We might not see a software unlock for a very long time. However do remember "where there's a will there's a way" and hopefully the Dev team will find that way. If they do and as soon as they do, they will let us know.
FW 1.1.3 will be released but again this is Apple depended. I can't see an update this side of Xmas (unless Steve is feeling somewhat festive) however I will but my neck on the line and say that we will see on Jan 15th '08 (saw this on another forum and completely agree with the assessment) - Steve has just finished his Keynote at Macword 08! New features have been added to the iPhone, and the FW update (be it 1.1.3 or 1.2.0 or what ever) will be released! maybe this will give the dev team a new area to focus there efforts, but probably it won't. It will not alter the bootloader, because the iphone remains locked (apart from HW unlocks)
There you have my ramblings! If the mods out there want to delete this thread, by all means do. It is only adding to the clutter, but if it stops one stupid thread being started then it has achieved a result. On the other hand if the mods feels its valid, they might decide to edit it or sticky it!
Respect

This post was needed. Many people is buying an iPhone right now totally ignorant of the unlocking scene, and as Christmas comes along, iPhone sales multiply. This is the only reason to explain the plague of newbie posts wanting to know how they unlock oob 1.1.2.
I don't know, I was a newbie once, but read a lot before I posted my first question/idea. Maybe it's the time of the year which makes everybody anxious.
Good post!!!

Because of forums like these, i am sure Apple is trolling thru all of our information. I dont blame the Dev Team for going quiet. If I were them, I wouldn't want Apple to thwart any new attempts to software unlock the new 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 firmwares.
Just my 2 cents, but I also think that if everyone wants a software unlock (as opposed to the turbo/stealth, etc SIM method), we are all going to have to wait.
