Unlocked (?) phone does not work on Vodafone IE
8Mb iPhone, 1.0.2, activated on AT&T AnySim 1.02 (not sure if it worked or not, never tested), revirginized using the online stuff, then 1.1.1 installed, then AnySim 1.1.1 unlocked. I'm an AT&T subscriber, just unlocking to use Vodafone Ireland on a trip. The phone still worked fine on AT&T when I left the US the other day.
Got to Ireland, inserted the Vodafone SIM, and got no service (no complaints from the phone about an invalid SIM or such). The SIM works in other local phones. Other local SIMs fail similarly in my phone. I ran OneSIM and then AnySIM again, but no change after this - I still get no service on Vodafone.
If I go Settings, Carrier, I get an Error message. However, if I reboot the iPhone without the SIM, then insert the SIM, and do Settings, Carrier, it displays "Loading..." and eventually lists carriers Vodafone IE, O2 Ireland and Meteor, with Automatic as the selection, but all grayed out. Still no service in this case.
Any idea what I could have done wrong? Major disappointment that I could not use my iPhone this trip (usually on such trips I borrow a friend's Nokia GSM phone to use this SIM).
Did you try O2 or Meteor with your AT&T sim? As you are roaming - you could have tried all three just to see if any worked or if the issue was just with Vodafone.

There was no way to "try" anything else - there was nothing you could select.
Re roaming - the SIM in the phone was a Vodafone Ireland SIM. I put it in a friends phone right there, and it worked.
