Unlocked Iphone seeking to upgrade to 1.1.1
I have been in the scene since the beginning and have just returned. Is there now a safe way for an unlocked iPhone to upgrade software and retain the unlocked status?
Thanks

Only if you use IPSF. But we're hoping that dev team will come up with a free unlock solution for 1.1.1 soon (a beta is already floating around).

So are we looking at a way to unlock a locked phone? Because I think that most of us are interested in a way to update an aldeady unlocked phone. It would be a lot more work to have to re-unlock it a second time.

Also waitting for a solution from the Dev Team to update my iUnlocked phone. Or a confirmation that erica's procedure to re-lock http://www.tuaw.com/2007/09/24/how-t...rmware-update/ works to be able to update then use new free unlock 1.1.1.
No hurry though, Im more than greatfull that all this is free and open, I can only hope they don't forget about us that never updated to 1.1.1 cause we LISTENED, well i should say read...

yea, I'm anxiously waiting too. I need to get a replacement for my phone since one of the speakers quit working and I know that when I get it, I'll get a 1.1.1 phone.
I'm assuming that the procedures will work similarly for a new out of the box 1.1.1 phone and an upgrade from 1.0.2?
Anyone have any luck at returning phones with hardware failures? What does the apple store dude say to you when you walk in the door? I assume that you can't come in and complain about a hardware issue and have the phone still not activated?????
(my SIM is still ATT)
