I have managed to unlock the phone following the instructions on the board (thanks).

I am trying to enable Edge, but I don't know how. (I am on Orange in the UK).

Can anyone tell me how I can set up Edge?

just to be a little more complete:

On your iphone go to settings then select General, then select Network and then Edge.

You need to enter the correct APN, username and password for your local carrier.
Some of the more common carrier APN settings are at the website link quoted above.

If your carrier is not amongst those quoted, simply give your local carrier a call and ask for the APN or GPRS settings and type them in. If you want to stop and start edge on the fly, you can use an app called services.app which is downloadable through Community sources (assuming you have apptap installed). This allows you to start and stop edge ( the app inserts a 'Disabled' string in the preferences plist ).
