Default Unlocked iPhone being sent back to Apple for touchscreen failure PLEASE HELP

I am one of the lucky "1%" of iPhone owners who had a problem with the touchscreen without any physical damage to the device. Basically the bottom row on the keyboard quit working, it would push the buttons on the row above when I pushed the spacebar, return etc. So I searched the forums here and found out that it was a touchscreen problem and called Apple. They gave me no hastle and are sending a box to send the iphone back but I get this in an email from them:

WARNING: Apple has discovered that some of the unauthorized unlocking programs available on the Internet may cause irreparable damage to the iPhone's software. As part of the service process, Apple will update the software on your iPhone to the latest version. IF YOU HAVE MODIFIED YOUR IPHONE'S SOFTWARE, YOUR IPHONE MAY BECOME PERMANENTLY INOPERABLE WHEN APPLE UPDATES THE SOFTWARE. Making unauthorized modifications to the software on your iPhone violates the iPhone software license agreement, and the inability to use your iPhone due to unauthorized software modifications is not covered under your iPhone's warranty

Should I restore to factory 1.02?? Either way I am hosed. PLEASE HELP!

    Default

restore to factory just to be safe even do a virgin restore if you can be bothered. Its just a standard email, Your phone will be replaced if its a touchscreen problem. They wouldn't bother fixing it, but your new phone will most likelly have 1.1.1 on it so be prepared for a wait untill you can unlock it
