    Default unlocked 1.1.1 phone not keeping APN setting after reboot

    Anyone having this issue where the 1.1.1 phone is not keeping the APN setting after a reboot or power off ? Everytime i reboot or power off/on my iPhone, the APN setting for EDGE is blanked out.

    This is where you can configure APN for EDGE:
    Settings --> General --> Network --> EDGE

    CHANGE THIS ARCHIVE:

    /var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.carrier.plist

    ------------------------------------------------------

    <array>
    <dict>
    <key>apn</key>
    <string>tim.br</string>
    <key>password</key>
    <string>tim</string>
    <key>username</key>
    <string>tim</string>
    </dict>
    <dict>
    <key>apn</key>
    <string>tim.br</string>
    <key>password</key>
    <string>tim</string>
    <key>username</key>
    <string>tim</string>
    </dict>
    </array>

    -----------------------------------------

    THIS EXEMPLO IS TIM (BRAZIL)

    YOU CHANGE TIM FOR YOUR OPERATOR

    Thanks Abdo Abdala! That seems to do the trick. The file (/var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.carrier.plist ) you pointed me to is actually a symbolic link to /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/UnknownCarrier.plist. So i edited the UnknownCarrier.plist file instead of the symbolic link.

    I created a little post here that shows you what to do:

    I've found a much simpler solution:

    In the installer.app, install the "services" application that lets you turn off EDGE, Wifi etc.

    Then turn off EDGE and turn it on again. It will promt you to select AT&T or several T-mobile networks (now we know which networks apple will go for eh? ). Select "other" and type in your APN name. The phone will now edit the .plist file itself.

    Now that's smart!

    You only ever have to type it in once, it'll remember after reboots

    If this works, it appears to be a much easier solution.

    Talking

    Ok here is the solution for the APN issue under 1.1.1 :

    use Fugu or WinSCP go to /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/

    backup the UnknownCarrier.plist file (just in case)
    delete UnknownCarrier.plist file on your iPhone

    Now you your APN settings will be kept after reboot.

    Confirmed this as working!

    Thanks for the help there!
