I hope someone can help point me in the right direction

I have an iphone that I upgraded from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1

The phone was unlocked when I got it and I am not sure how it was unlocked.
I went through the following steps to upgrade it to 1.1.1

downloaded the 1.1.1 image
put phone into recovery mode.
installed via itunes
did the *#307# thing to set up wireless and go to jailbreakme.com
installed appsnapp

phone rebooted and it was unlocked and ready to go
Now the questions
I did not install anysim but the phone is unlocked? (i am not in a country that has iPhones) so I know it is in fact unlocked.

If by some chance I installed anysim and cant remember if I did or not? (alien abduction maybe????) will I see anysim in the uninstall pane of the installer.app

I am guessing that if the phone had anysime installed and I upgraded to 1.1.1 from 1.0.2 i would have to install anysim again?

How do I know if its safe to upgrade to 1.1.3? even if I have to upgrade to 1.1.2 first

Model MA712LL
IMEI 01 130xxxx
Modem Firmware is 04.01.13_G

My real questions are as follows
1. how can I tell how the phone was unlocked?
2. can I upgrade to 1.1.2 then 1.1.3 and unlock ? (if its locked after the upgrade?)
3. is it at all possible that anysim was installed in 1.0.2 and somehow kept the phone unlocked?
4. i phone hardware unlocked? is that possible?

also how can I tell what my bootloader is and if something like IPSF was used to unlock the phone would it have an icon on the springboard before i upgraded to 1.1.1?

this whole upgrade an unlocked ihone and the phone stays unlocked afterwards has be a bit confused

Could anyone please tell me how to update to the latest firmware, baseband etc. I'm hoping all this would satisfy my geek curosity and get better battery back up as well in the end.

My phones specs are 1.1.1 OTB unlocked by Anysim.

what about connecting to itunes and click on Update ?!

then use ZiPhone top jailbreak activate 1.1.3 and have fun
but first of all: READ some threads about the whole jailbreaking/activating/updating/unlocking process

My advice is to read for at least 2 hours, then start. The biggest problems I see on these boards are people that just rush into things and end up skipping steps or vital info. Don't take one guide as the be all end all. Read a bunch to get an overall feel..everyone leaves something out IMO.

I have unlocked 7 + plus Iphones now, but i always get a flutter when I am about update one. Everything time there is a new problem...

Ziphone, Anyone has any forums about this ... Till then i'll go onto google and see what I can find.....

Well, the easiest and by all means fastest solution is ZiPhone:

Usage: ziphone [-u] [-a] [-j] [-i imei]

-u: Unlock (Only for 4.6 BL) if you have BL 3.9 just do the -j and -a
-a: Activate
-j: Jailbreak
-i: Change imei (Only for 4.6 BL)
-v: Verbose boot (debug)

On Windows

Start run
then enter CMD
you will get dos screen
Select the path where you have kept the ziphone files

type iphone.exe -j -a

to unlock (ONLY 4.6BL)

But since YOU HAVE 3.9 BL, just follow the tutorial :

In iclarified installer first we install Baseband Updater (04.03.13_G)
The description says that it " Updates your 3.9 BL to 04.03.13_G.

And now after this I can use AnySim 1.3 Right ?
Okay now in the description of AnySim 1.3 it says

" Unlock your 3.9 Bl Iphone for use with any SIM card. "


Do you understand my probelm ??

First we update the BL and then we read that AnySim 1.3 is for the 3.9...

you misread the description.
Bootloader cannot be upgraded.

What it says is: how to upgrade the BASEBAND of your iphone with Bootloader 3.9

If you have bootloader 4.6 you cannot do this. Please do not try!!!!
