updated the reference scheme. 1.1.1 unlock guide is available in another sticky in the unlock forums.
(btw, use common sense while doing things and do not upgrade your unlocked 1.0.2 iphone yet!)

fantastic... the GUI-based unlock is out. It seems that it can be used only with Mac's though. I didnt see a place where they had instructions to do it with WinXP. There seemed to be some confusion on some sites regarding this method and the IPSF method though. IPSF claims to be update-resistant, and ppl say this method isnt. But according to the sticky posted in the Unlock section of this forum that announced the GUI unlock, it states that the secpack and NVRAM are not touched, which means the free method is potentially resistant to future updates also. Is that the case? Also, would someone prefer the free method now over the paid IPSF solution, or should we wait and watch a little more? I think I'll probably wait a little more before buying the new 1.1.1 8gig phone fresh from Apple. Thoughts, anyone?

so we still havent figured out how to unbrick the iphone yet?????????

QQ guys; I have the iphone with 1.1.1 -- 04.01.13_G, I did the jail break on the phone with ibrickr (downloaded software only to 1.0.2) and loaded the old anysim and ran it with no sucess because of the new modem firmware (04.01.13_G).
I have been following the form since the great news and donated the $50 that I was going to give to IPSF.
I know that unlocked phones with the old anysim cannot use the new version yet, what I am not sure of is weither I can use this on my phone which is jailbroken but not sucessfully unlocked with the old method.
Any help greatly appreciated
As well any suggestions on a good link for instructions on jailbreaking 1.1.1 for windows users...

Hello
I have a brand new 1.0.2 (still sealed in the box). According to the Picture in Post #1 it should be possible to upgrade to version 1.1.1 and getting the iPhone working with anysim 1.1.1
but, what is the way to get there? I didn't found a comlete list in all the 300 threads....
do I have to:
1. Jailbrake on 1.0.2
2. Install AnySim 1.1.1 (without Starting AnySim)
3. Upgrade to 1.1.1 by iTunes
4. Start AnySim 1.1.1
or
1. Restore to 1.1.1
2. Jailbrake 1.1.1
3. Install AnySim 1.1.1
4. Run AnySim 1.1.1
Thanks for your Help

Great thread! I am a newbie & hopefully I can get some clarification from this thread: I have an iPhone 1.0.2 firmware, upgraded to 1.1.1. I also have the iPhone plan with AT&T already & am using it with my iPhone. Which method should I use to unlock my iPhone so that I can use it with another carrier?

I have a virgin 1.1.1, Can I downgrade to 1.0.2 and unlock it using this tutorial ?
(I won't upgrade back to 1.1.1).
The reason I'm asking is this tutorial is much easy to follow, then those with SSH and Putty.

An update for 1.1.2 would be nice
