    1. you can jailbreak and install third party apps
    2. you can bypass activation, and thus while you will be locked to ATT, you can use any ATT card, without necessarily getting an iphone plan.

Please fix the info on the graphic!
Thank you, mr_. That's what I was trying to get at in post #9 -- the chart has no unlocks in that path, but claims you can't use the phone functionality.

"And with some luck you'll be able to unlock the iPhone and use the Phone fuctionality (Chances are 1 out of 6".

What's that about? Please tell me there is a chance that I haven't bought a expensive iPod Touch

My guess is that he is referring to pspsully's method of downgrading/unlocking in which he claims to have successfully downgraded a 1.1.1 iPhone with a working baseband (so it can make calls).

Pspsully bought 6 iPhones from the Apple Store and said his method worked on 1 out of those 6 iPhones, but failed on the others...

(I think the downgrade didn't succeed at all... maybe the one that 'worked' was a 1.0.2 iPhone from the start, en he had problems with the real 1.1.1 iPhones, or that the complete story is just a fake... i don't know....)

Anyway... if you have a 1.1.1 iPhone, just wait for the Dev Team to create a working solution, they will do that... if they're given time to work on it

I see this thread is now sticky.
Yet, the flow chart is not accurate.
Are the standards for sticky posts really so low as to stickify anything that appears valid?

    Updated the chart.

When I made it, it was believed (though, not everyone believed that) that there was a 1 out of 6 chance like PeterPresto pointed out. Though it has now been confirmed that pspsully's method (for unlocking stock 1.1.1) isn't working.

    The chart is NOT correct.

If I buy a new phone with 1.1.1 on it, then downgrade the firmware to 1.0.2, I should still be able to use the phone functionality. Your chart assumes (but doesn't show) an unlock screwing things up in there somewhere... is it even possible for an unlock program to screw things up if the phone began its life with 1.1.1 on it -- how would it do that if it can't write to the baseband from day one?!
