If I buy an iPhone with 1.1.1 already on it, then downgrade to 1.0.2... I can't use the phone functionality? Why not?
just try to downgrade and you will know why you can't use "phone" function...hehe
Your iPhone will change into a iTouch!!!

If he explains all of the details we also get the same questions that we all want to avoid.

    pretty cool graphics!
nothing like a cool flow chart to make people take notice, I should have thought of it.

    Quick modification to that:

If you unlock using iPhoneSIMFree on 1.0.2 then upgrade to 1.1.1 then downgrade to 1.0.2 your phone will still be unlocked, and will be an iPhone, not an expensive iTouch.

But otherwise, VERY nice flowchart. Just keep it updated!

The actual cell radio that handles your SIM card, network access, etc. is updated in 1.1.1 and the bug/feature that allowed unlocking is gone. The update also blocks downgrading, so when you install 1.0.2 only the software, not the cell radio's firmware, downgrades.

Yes, you won't be able to unlock it, but you'll still be able to use as a phone, unlike a phone that was upgraded to 1.1.1 after dev team unlock. There are at least two reasons you may want to downgrade a stock 1.1.1 phone to 1.0.2:
    1. you can jailbreak and install third party apps
    2. you can bypass activation, and thus while you will be locked to ATT, you can use any ATT card, without necessarily getting an iphone plan.

Please fix the info on the graphic!
