If your wifi works then one sure way to verify it's still there is visit jailbreakme.com. If Safari exits abruptly after "proceeding" with the process, then you can be sure the tiff exploit is still there. If all you see is a blue icon, then the tiff exploit has been fixed.
I'm pretty sure you'll see Safari exit abruptly
P.S. Remember that part of what jailbreakme.com does is fix the tiff exploit, so you shouldn't be able to do it twice.

Oh boy...this is exactly what I'm doing right now, didn't you follow the discussion in this thread?!
I'm back to 1.1.2 and I started the Jailbreak process again, it works, the OktoPrep patch has been "recognized" and the Jailbreak seems to have worked fine.
I'll activate again using the lockdown file (link in this thread, DO NOT ask anymore how to activate!) and I'll keep you updated with AnySIM1.2u.

Ok that's exactly what was happening.
So i don't get it,what should we do in these situations? Do a restore every time jailbreakme.com fails?

this is interesting, i was only wondering - because a lot of people are reporting problems with the updated 1.1.2 and any sim 1.2U when they try to dial numbers on the keypad?
i dont doubt the process of the unlock as the guy who put it there must have tried it. Its if the phone has bugs afterwards that is important.

BTW: I just activated/jailbreaked my iPhone again, FW 1.1.2. Now back to AnySIM1.2...I'm very excited (not in a positive way I'm afraid

).
Yeah i am following you progress
as for me
i still don't get it why it didnt work for me.
after 1.1.2 didnt work for me i downgraded to 1.1.1
and apptappinstall just wouldn't work for me.
i tryed a great number of times - nada (and it's by far not the first time i am doing it)
so i just don't get it what went wrong.

but, man, you'll be stuck now since you will not be able to activate/jailbreak, no?
Honestly, I don't have a clue what you're talking about.
Right now I'm installing AnySIM1.2u to an ACTIVATED and JAILBREAKED 1.1.2 iPhone, so please let it go and just READ before you continue.
Btw: what apptappinstall are you talking about???

The question is: why is there a HUGE difference in file size is the executable code is the same? I'm still hesitating.

That's an interesting point. I first saw the prefs://1F URL on unlockthatiphone.com, but you're right. The "1F" part isn't necessary from a "Contacts" URL. In fact, anything from "prefs://" to "prefs://foobar" works.
