UK O2 sim ?!

hey , I have a OTB 1.12 US iphone which i successfully activated and jailbroke using the excellent guide which was posted . I would love to use a pay as you go o2 sim card , but ppl are saying that this is not possible . But my question is , why isn't it possible ? do Apple actually manufacture iphones seperately for each country . I always assumed that they would essentially manufacture the same model , ( ie all 1.12 otb phones the same ) just different versions of the software that differentiates the models between different countries.

When i went about activating my iphone in the uk , i used an older version of itunes initially (7.3 i think ) but it said that i needed a newer version to complete the process .. but it still recognized the phone in the old version and the O2 activation page appeared in itunes . But when i upgraded to 7.5 , the activation page was AT&T like it should have been , as my phone is US 1.12 . . Sooo , i assumed that there was a way to dupe the US iphone into thinking that it is a UK version and use an O2 chip .

sorry for the long post ,i know i may be talking complete bollocks : ) but was just wondering why a solution to this problem isn't possible ... lol

You can use an o2 sim PayG on a jailbroken UK iphone. Restore to 1.1.1 and then upgrade. The PayG sim should then work. This information is contained in one of the stickies here in the unlocking section.

I live in the UK, bought a US iphone version 1.1.2, downgraded it, jailbroke, upgrade so now i have what is basically an ipod touch. i just want to confirm that i cannot use an o2 pay as you go sim with this as it is a US phone?

Both of you should have bought a UK phone, or indeed read this forum first !

Turbosim or indeed stealthsim may work have you have jail breaked them

you see , the wonderful thing about the decline of the dollar against the pound was that I bought my iphone for £188 whilst it retails for £270 in the uk and currently the rate is £200 . Furthermore , with uk phones , you are guaranteed a 1.12 OTB , but with buying US iphones , there is a SLIGHT chance that it will be a week 44 or less . So cant really blame anyone for buying US instead of UK .
