    Just a thought - I've got a 1.1.2 OTB UK phone (so 4.6bl, 4.02.13_G) and it's unlocked using gunlock.

    1) - Does the above process use ZiPhone from the command prompt?
    2) - Should this work ok with an already unlocked phone?
    3) - When upgrading to 1.1.3 from iTunes, is the download necessary or can we shift-upgrade and point to an already-downloaded copy of the firmware? (I only ask as I'm in India for 3 weeks at the mo and download speeds are a bit shonky...)

    Nice guide regardless though

Well, took the plunge and went for the upgrade.

The unlock and activation was fine, Phone, bluetooth, wi-fi, etc all working properly. I seem to have an odd problem with the user data that was on there?

I had approx. ~4.5GB of music, photos, contacts, etc that are all gone? However, if I connect to iTunes it shows as 4.5GB 'Other'

Any way I can get the data back without recreating, copying, etc?

    First off:
    1. I live in the UK
    2. I own a UK iPhone
    3. My iPhone was an OOT 1.1.2
    4. My Bootloader is 4.6
    5. My baseband is 04.02.13_G
    6. My carrier is Vodafone (I HAVE TESTED THIS WITH AN ORANGE AND O2 PAY AS YOU GO SIM ALSO)
    7. My Vodafone SIM card remains in my phone throughout the unlock/jailbreak process
    8. I have installed the latest version of iTunes (7.6)
    9. I have already downloaded ZiPhone and extracted the files to a folder

First to upgrade to prepare your iPhone for upgrade

    1. Connect your iPhone via USB
    2. Make sure iTuneshelper.exe and any other iTunes process is stopped
    3. Run ZiPhone
    4. Select all 3 options 'Unlock' 'Activate' 'Jailbreak' (Nothing else!!)
    5. Your iPhone will go in to Recovery mode and the process will start, do not worry about the apple code streaming it looks scary but it's OK.
    6. When the process is finished your iPhone will reboot and you will be at the 'Slide to Unlock' screen.

Now you have an unlocked/jailbreaked 1.1.2 iPhone but your running an old firmware version. Lets upgrade now to the latest version and enjoy the new updates!

By now I'm assuming the following:

    • Your are running on 1.1.2
    • The unlock worked (you have signal/reception)
    • You have the Installer App home icon
    • ZiPhone is now closed

    Lets Upgrade!

    1. Connect your iPhone via USB to your PC
    2. Launch iTunes and go to your iPhone Home page
    3. Select the 'Upgrade' option
    4. Download and install the 1.1.3 update using iTunes
    5. Allow your iPhone to reboot and you will now be at the 'Slide for Emergency' Screen
    6. Close iTunes and make sure all processes are stopped (iTuneshelper.exe)
    7. Launch ZiPhone
    8. Select all 3 options 'Unlock' 'Activate' 'Jailbreak' (Nothing else!!)
    9. Your iPhone will go in to Recovery mode and the process will start, do not worry about the apple code streaming it looks scary but it's OK.
    10. When the process is finished your iPhone will reboot and you will be at the 'Slide to Unlock' screen.

    Don't forget!

    • You are now on an unlocked iPhone on baseband 04.03.13_G with bootloader 4.6
    • I have not missed out a single step I took and I did not receive any errors/warnings that needed to be noted
    • You can now directly restore your iPhone to a 1.1.3 to repair any errors and then use ZiPhone to unlock/jailbreak/activate.
    • I did not downgrade to upgrade, I did a straight Upgrade via iTunes and have not missed out any steps from unwrapping the device.

    My guide

Wahey you now have a unlocked iPhone running an another carrier on 1.1.3! All your options will work without a problem and you can sit back and bask in the glory of being a genius!
There is just one point I would raise and that is unless you downgrade the bootloader to 3.9 the baseband will remain at 04.02 when you unlock FW 1.1.3

Hmmn, I'm guessing this maybe has something to do with a symlink due to the root/mobile user changes in 1.1.3? Did the upgrade from iTunes so I would have thought that all would be ok?

    Can anyone help with this?

    Another Question:

Am using a jailbroken 1.1.2 / 4.6BL with a turbosim type sollution, no problems

Because of this i assume its not unlocked hence the turbosim

Should i run Ziphone first to unlock it, then upgrade via itunes to 1.1.3 and run ziphone again or maybe it does not matter and can i upgrade straight to 1.1.3 instead

Also can i keep my turbosim inside during all this or should i use another normal sim - i don't have the orginal AT&T one

    thx

I would recommend restoring with 1.1.3 via iTunes then run Ziphone -a -j -u -v. I don't think it matters but I would put in another normal SIM. If you area using the latest version of Ziphone then then it will run in verbose mode as default. If you want to use the latest baseband (04.03) then after your phone has rebooted run ziphone -b -v again. I have done it half a dozen times without any problems.

Ok thanks for the help only i thing i don't get is what is V?

And by this you recommend doing the BL downgrade to make it work on higher baseband??

Otherwise just do the normal a-j-u and it will automatically be one 04-02 baseband???

I have a UK week 46 1.1.2 OOB phone Jailbroken and working with an O2 PAYG SIM.

I did NOT want to downgrade my 4.6 BL or go to 1.1.3 so I just ran Ziphone with the -U ticked only.

I now have an unlocked (also works with a Vodafone PAYG SIM as well as O2) phone with all of my apps and BL untouched. If you are unsure you want to upgrade to 1.1.3 or change your BL this is the way to go.

I also installed the AppSupport Patch (1.1.2) from iClarified so I can use foreign SIM cards when I am abroad.

    EASY!!!!!!!!

    um........is not an answer
