Thumbs up JAVA application says you need to run OKTO PREP first in 1.1.1

Hello, I've had the same problem yesterday.
It's all about reading the "README FILE" of the (java) application.
It's very clear that you CANNOT shift-click the RESTORE button in iTunes, but you'd need to SHIFT CLICK the UPDATE Button to upgrade to 1.1.2 ! Those 2 buttons are situated right above each other.
If you click restore, the OKTO prep changes will all be gone!!!!!!
If you click update, NO PROBLEMO!!

    Good luck

Ok, I finally jailbroke 1.1.1 through i.unlock.no. You have to keep your iphone connected to iTunes to be able to do this. ;-)

But, where I keep stuck is jailbreaking 1.1.2. I insist, I jailbroke 1.1.1 with i.unlocj that supposedly installs Oktoprep but when I try to jailbreak 1.1.2 it still says I need Oktoprep!!!!

    @Igocancun: Ayudame porfa!!!

I'm really sorry to say this, but I had to downgrade again to 1.1.1
I had LARGE difficulties to jailbreak 1.1.1 because the servers are so busy. If you are lucky, you couldjailbreak it in 2 seconds, otherwise like me you'll have to wait until you get through... (in my case 45').
After having it jailbroken again in 1.1.1, just run okto prep and so on...
AND DON'T click "RESTORE", but use "Update" :-)
I found my explanation for unlocking on www.iclarified.com
I'd like to thank and congratulate all the persons who actually help unlocking the Iphone. Thank you Geohot and C.

I feel stupid. It has bold letter saying to click UPDATE and NOT RESTORE when upgrading to 1.1.2. Ok, I'm doing my work and will tell you later what happened. ;-) Thanks...

    Default very serious problem

    Hi whoever it is

Thank you very much for this release, but i got a problem with this release

my iphone was brand new i bought it few days back(4),it has 1.1.3 preinstalled in it
as said in this thread i did the whole thing,it was perfect until step 4
    and in step 5,iworld!
i reisde in US right now using cingular network, and i was planning to leave to india this 16th,so i used iworld it installed perfectly.(i think this made the mess)

now it showed me full network and i tried calling too,it worked.

and at last as said to upgrade to 1.1.3 from installer,i did that as said,it took me long time as said and itunes showed up saying problem with iphone please contact nearest apple store(like that).

so i tried rebooting my iphone and when i rebooted it has gone to slide to emergency screen,i was worrying and restored my iphone to 1.1.2,which was again perfect itunes recognized my iphone and, when i tried to jailbreak 1.1.2 it is saying that"this utility can only be used if you have already run oktoprep before updating to 1.1.2

it's a big mess what should i do now,plz help me urgently.
i would be thankful to you all help me,plz reply me as soon as possible, either here or @ rishinaveen@gmail.com.thank you very much.

What is the version of your phone now? 1.1.2 or 1.1.3?

If its 1.1.2, then iworld is needed, bt if you update it to 1.1.3 (using dev team softupdate), then you don't need to install iworld.

What you have to do is: if you are now in 1.1.2 with the activation screen: put the phone into restore mode. Then restore to 1.1.1 firmware.

Then jailbreak 1.1.1 using the phone dialpad exploit. Once it jailbreaks: go into installer and install oktoprep software. i don't exactly know where, but it will be there.

Now, UPDATE to 1.1.2 (NOT RESTORE). then phone will reboot, and now you will be able to run the jailbreak software.

    Hi all,

First of all, thanks for all who made the almost impossible possible for us.

I went thru all the steps and unlocked my 1.1.3 4.6BL iphone as it is suggested, but haven't upgraded it to 1.1.3 it is a 1.1.2 operating Iphone now.

My problem is that my PC recognizes my Iphone, but my MAC ( Mac os X Leopard ) won't recognize it!!!

Anyone with a similar problem? Please help me out.

seem I am the only one who fail ...

my OTB 1.1.3 which buy last week.

    downgrade to 1.1.1 (firmware)
    jailbreak 1.1.1

    use OTB 1.1.2/1.1.3 unlock
    upgrade to 1.1.2 (firmware)
jailbreak (do it in Mac by double click the jar file)
after upload is completed... it just keep in endless reboot....

    what can I do now?
