    Thumbs up TroubleShooting 1.1.1

    A guide to common problems and their solutions after updating to 1.1.1 firmware

    1) After activating itunes shows only 300mb space

    If you used independence make sure you read the help file and click the "post 1.1.1 update" button once you are done jailbreaking and activating.
    If you used dev teams method you need to rename your mediabackup folder(follow the cleanup step in the readme)

    2)Youtube not working

    follow this guide

    3)Summerboard installed but crahes after start/Summerboard messed up

    Make sure you get the alpha version of summerboard for 1.1.1 and not the one from installer.app
    change the permission to 0755 for all files

    4)iPhone stuck at apple logo after installing/uninstalling customize/summerboard/trip1pogostick/rsbt

    You have messed up your springboard, you'll need to do a restore!(if anyone knows alternative pls post)
    If you have these applications already installed DO NOT uninstall them as it will lead to problems!!
    I do not recommend installing trip1pogostick use the dev team springpatch instead.

    5) Battery problem after updating to 1.1.1

    Chances are your ssh connection is draining your battery, install services from apptapp to disable ssh when not needed.

    Feel free to add your own fixes for issues you have faced since updating to 1.1.1

    Adding another fix for vanishing Edge settings on 1.1.1
    with the new 1.1.1 firmware every time the iPhone is restarted or rebooted, the EDGE settings disappear, to fix this issue go to /var/root/Library/Preferences/ you'll need to make changes to the com.apple.carrier.plist file(as always remember to backup your original file before you make any changes )

    <key>apns</key>
    <array>
    <dict>
    <key>apn</key>
    <string>apn.com</string>
    <key>password</key>
    <string></string>
    <key>username</key>
    <string></string>
    </dict>
    <dict>
    <key>apn</key>
    <string>apn.com</string>
    <key>password</key>
    <string></string>
    <key>username</key>
    <string></string>
    </dict>
    </array>

    replace <string>apn.com</string> with your carriers actual apn setting
    similarly fill in your username and password in corresponding <string></string> if needed
    reboot and you're all set

    *Edit
    If the above doesn't work at first, try again, I got it right only after trying it out 3-4 times.
    if it's still a no go you'll need to modify all three of these files.
    /var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.carrier.plist
    /var/root/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist
    /private/var/root/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist

    This one worked for me:

    When the Apple logo is on the screen for some time, try to SFTP into your phone (Cyberduck for me), you should have remembered your phone IP though... or ask your router for it...

    Get here and download
    /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.SpringBoard.plist

    Open that file with your favorite text editor
    Erase the following lines :

    <key>EnvironmentVariables</key>
    <dict>
    <key>DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES</key>
    <string>/Library/Frameworks/SummerBoard.framework/SummerBoard.dylib</string>
    </dict>

    save, and copy this file back to the original location, overwriting the old one, make sure permissions are -rw-r--r--

    Look around the folders, delete every trace, file, folder named or partly named "summerboard"

    Reboot.

    Done (at least it was for me)

    Matt

    another thing that you could try, when I opened my com.apple.carrier.plist file the <key>apn</key> filed was showing blank like this <key></key> so make sure that is not the case with you!

    change it to <key>apn</key> for both instances
    so it should be like

    <key>apns</key>
    <array>
    <dict>
    <key>apn</key>
    <string>apn.com</string> (change apn.com to your carriers apn)
    <key>password</key>
    <string></string> (insert password if required by your carrier)
    <key>username</key>
    <string></string> (insert username if required by your carrier)
    </dict>
    <dict>
    <key>apn</key>
    <string>apn.com</string> (change apn.com to your carriers apn)
    <key>password</key>
    <string></string> (insert password if required by your carrier)
    <key>username</key>
    <string></string> (insert username if required by your carrier)
    </dict>
    </array>
