Default [TouchScreen] Slider only works after 2 times wake up

    Hi All,

I have a very weird problem! No, not me, my iPhone

When I put my iPhone into sleep mode then the slider will not work when it wakes up. The wake up can be manuallly, an incoming call or sms.

Only when I press sleep/wake again, then the slider works again. Now, this is 'great' when I just wake it up manually, but on an incoming call, pressing sleep/wake (to make the slider work again) means that I will ignore the call.

    So, in steps:

    1) iPhone to sleep mode (either manually or via auto lock)
    2) Press Wake up
    3) Slider is not working, touch screen doesn't respond
    4) Press Sleep, Press wake (= pressing same button twcice)
    5) Slider works again

As long the iPhone is awake, I have no issues or what so ever with the touch screen.

QUESTION: Is this hardware or software?

I treid about anything on the software side. Erasing basbeband, downgrading to 1.02 in DFU, restore of 1.1.4, bootloader v3.9 and v4.6, all kind of baseband version. Nothing helped.

In fact. the problem already occurs when I erase the baseband and downgrade in DFU to 1.0.2. When I put it then to sleep and wake it up afetr 1 minute. The slider is froze nagain. Pressing on/off again, make the slider work again.

    Weird!!

    Any ideas?

wow thats so strange. DFU Restore should have fixed it

could it be a sensitivity issue with the touch screen?

Software used: ZiPhone, Liberty+, iPlus2.0, I really tried a lot.

Also installed the Touch Settings app to calibrate the screen in the general settings.

I am now at my last resort; Trying to drain the battery which then hopefully will reset the commboard, touchscreen, etc. I have put the iPhone (now it shows to be empty) in the refrigerator (freeze department) to get that last bit out.

Once the battery is really empty, all components will start in their default settings.

    Will be continued...

draining the battery will not restore to default setting.. all settings are kept in memory,, and as far as i know,, it is like flash usb, no need power to keep memory..

yep, this had just started with some of my clients.
some of the phones do not even start to work after this.

but I found out that if you disconnect and reconnect the touchscreen in such a state, it will start to work even if you are pressing the power button to no success.

I think this is a hardware problem (as not all of them produce this), yet, there supposed to be a software solution (probably a more sophisticated "APM" driver or power-up sequence) that could provide an easier fix for this issue - as I suppose more and more devices will start acting like that over time.
