Tmobile - False voicemail notification
It's strange... I have a SW unlocked iPhone on Tmobile USA. Everytime I restart my phone, or I go in and out of Airplane mode, it immediately notifies me that I have a voicemail (red dot on phone).
If I check the voicemail (push the voicemail button), and verify that there is no voicemail, then the dot goes away.
It's pretty annoying, as I get this fake notification a few times a day. I feel like I'm constantly checking my voicemail!
Any ideas?

All my phones have done this. Its not telling you that you have NEW voicemail, just that you have voicemail, even if its a saved message. Don't save voicemail or just know that this is a problem with all t mobile phones and check your vmail only to hang up after no new mail. My treo did the same thing.

Basically the red dot shows because the iPhone thinks you have voicemail. You call your voicemail, you get the GSM signal that it's empty. It appears because we do not have visual voicemail. I'm just thankful we have voicemail at all.

Just leave yourself a voice mail, call back and delete the voicemail and the dot will go away

GPunique, it does this even when there is no voicemail at all. Basically whenever the tmobile connection is reset, the indicator automatically goes on - until I actually call the voicemail to verify that there is no actual voicemail - then it turnsoff automatically.
Selcouth, thanks for the link!

From what i have seen, it is because of the way the phone checks to see if you have voicemail... I will try and make this make sense...
The iphone checks to see if you have voicemail. It "sees" your voicemail account, responts back with a red dot. it does this because of the way visual voicemail works, and the phone gets confused as to what it sees, because it is not the correct type of account.

carlos,
What's interesting is that it doesn't seem to need to see tmobile for the red dot to appear. For example, if I am in a dead spot with no reception, cycling the airplane mode will immediately trigger the red dot.
