Default AT&T salesperson's attitude toward unlocking?

What's the general opinion about the average AT&T salesperson's attitude on this unlocking issue? Do they know? Care? Helpful? Or resist being helpful if they know you're going to hack the phone?

Probably an individual thing but was wondering generally...

All the AT&Ts i'v ebeen to in NY have been absolutely negative, pushy and downright rude when it comes to buying the iphone from them. They'll even straigh tout lie to you and say it must be activated in the store and you can't activate via itunes without them running your credit in the store.

You dont need to activate it in the store. I simply kept saying that it was a gift and they left me alone.

I'm from Australia and my brother went to NY for business so I asked him to get me an iPhone. He went to an AT&T store because it was much closer and they wouldn't sell him one without activating it in-store.

I ended up getting another friend who lives in NY to go to the Apple Store and mail me the phone.

Well, I plan on going in today and finding out. I have an excuse though. I live in a rural area where AT&T has no service. How can they blame me for still wanting an iphone? Have to travel 30 miles to store.

My GF works for ATT, and if any of you have an issue, she could direct fulfill it and have it to you overnight. PM me.
