Anybody knows if I buy an AT&T pay as you go phone and use the chip on the iPhone, will the phone features work?

if you jailbreak and activate first.

Thats what I wanted.. couldnt figure it out though. I went into an ATT store and asked to buy a prepaid sim, but its the same thing as a normal att sim. Anyway the lady said 25 bucks, I said alright so I walked to the counter and she's like Whats your phone number? and I told her I didn't have one.. not sure why I did that, but then she hands me the sim and tells me to not worry about paying. So I got a free sim, went on ATT.com and activated using the pay as you go plan, put the sim in and it didn't work, I got no signal. Finally figured out I had to upgrade back to 1.1.2 (I have 1.1.2 OTB) and it works perfectly.

She must of liked you lol. How strange...! Oh well, glad it works.
