T-Mobile T-zones plan - Delay sending emails
Is anyone with the TMobile TZones plan (the 5.99 plan), using the proxy.pac fix, having an issue sending emails?
Oh, I am using GMail email, set up via the 'Setup a GMAil account' option on the phone.
My phone will send the email, but it seems to delay for about 2 minutes before it sends. It is strange, and frustrating.
Please post if you are seeing this behaviour. Also, if you have the solution, that would be great too!
Thanks!

I noticed the exact same thing. I receive mail really quickly, but sending takes AGES.

I have the same problem too. Besides that if I have my iphone idle for a while, I couldn't connect with Safari, Weather or Stock. But gmail can get me connected and all the others start working again. so weird....

I use the blackberry plan with Tmo, but i also experience a long delay while sending e-mails via gmail or my comcast account.
On a related note, on my comcast account, I was able to receive e-mails just fine, but could not connect to the outgoing mail (SMTP) server. Turns out, if you're using the EDGE connection, you must have the outgoing mail server configured as "smtp.comcast.net:465" with your username and password below it, and have SSL enabled for both pop3 and smtp. Just an FYI.

Hey, I thought it was just me! Sometimes it would take forever to connect via Edge with the tmobile 5.99 .pac altered plan... but usually if I use Safari and connect to google.com, once google.com/m starts loading up I"ll be able to use all other internet programs. Weird.. it's almost like tmobile screens for a google connection before allowing a formal internet connect...

I have noticed a reconnect delay, too.
I did notice sometimes, that weather or stocks will not update, right after I have turned the phone back on.
If I go to safari, that seems to kickstart the connection again.
I am wondering if someone that understands the proxy.pac hack could possibly filter out any smtp and pop traffic from the proxy. I seem to recall that the 5.99 plan can still use the standard ports for email without a proxy. I may be wrong.
If anyone can test, by updating the proxy.pac to not use the proxy for smtp/pop and let us know if it works... maybe that is the solution.
After looking again at proxy.pac, is that function called for all protocols, or just http/s ?

Any luck?
Has anyone had any luck discovering what might be causing this delay?
I am thinking about trying the 19.99 plan to see if it also has a dela in sending emails / checking weather / etc.
Any information you have would be greatly appreciated!

Still no idea, here. I unlocked a few more phones over the last few days, and all have the same issue.

Nothing to add, except this "sleeping" network bug is driving me nuts. Here's my post from the GPRS thread:
I'm using the $5.99 plan on my iPhone, and for the most part it works fine with the proxy.pac file.
That said, it would be nice to figure out why the connection sometimes "goes to sleep." So, for example, I take my phone out and try to update the weather. It can take FOREVER to do that, whereas using Google Maps works instantly. It's the same issue with sending mail. It can take over 2 minutes to send an e-mail, whereas receiving it is very quick. And....the same story with using the Internet. Sometimes can take several minutes to bring up the first web page, at which point everything works just fine.
Is there a solution to this "lag"?
If you want to test my findings, all you have to do is go to Google Maps, and then go back to Weather, and the weather will update in literally just a second. If you don't load Google Maps first, Weather can take AGES to update, if at all.

I'd love to know how to make the T-Mobile Internet work 100%.
