This is interesting, I really wonder how t-mobile knows that one has an iPhone. I use t-mobile but i have yet to push my luck with calling them from my iphone. I just had a blackberry before the iphone and the plan seemed to switch over seemlessly, once i unlocked the phone. One thing I am curious about is everyones edge speed is it slow as nails like mine? All be-it that i did use wap.voicestream.com as my info for edge, could that be effecting the speeds?

you can do the iphonenetworktest.com deal. it should be between 190 and 210 on EDGE(BOTH att and t-mobile) and usually around 1000 if your on wifi. see what happens and go from there.
edit: just tried mine. it was 211k on EDGE and 1598 on my wifi

I am based in boston, and t-mobile works actually quite well here and is not considerd the ghetto network if you want to call it that. Although i think a lot of people may take offense by that term.

I'm from the east coast, NY to be more precise, but im currently goin to college in FL. It's like in NY verizon kills the competition (but their phones suck). So i switched to Tmo which was the next best. And dont hate on Tmo, I have a $60 family plan which consists of 2 lines, 700min, unlimited nights weekends, mobile to mobile. then i have unlimited text msgs (got it on promotion) for $9.99, and tmobile web which works PERFECTLY with the iphone for $5.99. So a total of $76. So i think that beats the att $20 iphone plan. :p

yeah i dont see any of that on their webpage. i dont see any "unlimited m2m" for that matter. only that "myfav5" deal. but more power to ya dude
like i said: there's nothing wrong with hyping your carrier up but is the bashing of others really necessary?

TMO or any carrier will know you have a iphone because the imei is broadcast back to the carrier...thus the illigality of changing your imei.

(YES people. their EDGE is just as slow as AT&T's EDGE. heck their 3g network is often referred to as "edge-like")...... so where are you guys from, excactly? i once bought soomething for $50 then saw the same thing at onotherplace for $40 and spent the entire day convincing myself that it wasnt the same product. that mine was a better version.

that's cool and all. convince yourselves that t-mobile is so and so better than the others. but lets keep the bashing to a minimum please. it can get pretty petty and annoying.

just so you know... there is a reason that ATT had to drop their ad campaign about "least dropped calls"... they used a nationwide average for that. and some of the markets that they had to drop it from was dallas/fortworth, houston, austin, and waco.... becuase ATT's footprint was actually SMALLER then TMO's in most places. and according to the same "indipendant research firm", Tmo actually had less dropped calls and a higher customer satisfaction rate in texas than ANY other carrier...don't believe me? look up the info...you can find it thruought theWeb. JD Power seems to think this is also true...but we all know their for shit right?

You can't refuse a customer services
Actually they can!
I've seen this kind of complaint on other boards/threads where someone gets all righteous because they think they deserve the service.
Granted, their reasons were incredibly stupid, but they have the right to say "No".
Put yourself in their shoes: You are asking them to sign up an unsupported phone on their network. If there is a problem, you will call into their help line and waste their time as their support staff try to find what is wrong with your service. You know how they do that, don't you? they open a big book (or file on their screens) and search for "iPhone" No support, no help. You've made that call drone waste a valid customer's time looking for a solution they haven't documented.
In your defense, in Canada, when I signed up for my data plan, and went through 3 people to do it, each one said "We will not support this phone!" yet gleefully will take my money.
Can I sync my iPhone to my Newton?

i stay in dallas/fortworth. Verizon is nuber 1. Followed by att then tm. I dont really know anyone who avtually has sprint. I had tm before att here in dallas and it had many deadspots. I know people who still have it and are trying to decide if they switch to att or verizon. But what would i know? I just grew-up, live, and work here. I havent done any "independent surveys" and I'm not jd power, right? Seriously talk what u know not what u here budy.
