I had no problem getting the add on i told them i had an unlocked iphone, she even transfered me to tech support to put in the edge settings. I was shocked the total internet dropped to 19.99 way to go t-mobile!

yeah tmobile cc is pretty great
i just finished with my vzw contract and compared to tmobile vzw cc is crap they were always mean women who answered the phone. now with tmobile i get great cc and the past 3 times ive called them to clear some things up they have noticed that I am indeed using an iphone:
Tmobil: so hows your iphone with tmobile
me: its actually pretty great, better plans with tmobile

I think after the first time i called tmobile for adding txt msg they wrote a note in my acct that i use an iphone but wow are they nice nice ppl, but yeah just change your phone in the my.t-mobile page and then add w/e services you want, its not like they will care its a sim swap not the end of the world.
my gf uses a unlocked treo 680 and here services are listed, so just do that.

I called them from my iPhone and upgraded with no problem at all to the total internet package from t-zones. my.tmobile.com still shows my Razr V3t, and the girl made no comment about me using an iPhone. T-mobile's service is by far the best I've gotten from any cell company (and I've had over the years both AT&T and cingular before the merger, Verizon and someone else I can't recall now). I'm surprised you had any issues...

I called Tmobile USA from a LAN line to confirm that I had the Total Internet Plan plus unlim txt and after she checked and confirmed she said I was the second person that day she had talked to that had an Iphone and I did not mention it to her at all plus I was calling from a lan line, she wouldn't tell me how she knew but she thought it was cool and said I could do whatever I wanted as far as using the phone.

I had very similar positive experiences. I called on my iPhone. When I asked to add the total internet, the woman asked me what kind of phone I had. I asked whether she wanted the truth or something that would be easy for her system to handle. She asked for the truth, and I told her it was an iPhone. She was interested and happy to hear about an unlocked iPhone. The only caution she had was that officially it was unsupported, so I'd have to handle making the settings myself.
All in all a smooth and pleasant experience, and the price drop on total internet makes it so that both voice and internet are cheaper with T-Mobile USA than AT&T. Combine that with better service, and one wonders why anyone stays with AT&T.

Unless you get a comnplete bonehead at Tmo cust care, you usually get great service. There are also plenty of people who use unsupported hardware with TMO service, and from what i have seen even people who have had problems with unsupported devices can STILL get help thru TMO tech support.

If you had smart access you would HAVE to convert out of it to get data access.... it is one of the restrictions with smart access, and also why they now have flex pay instead of smart access.

I've only had great service from Tmo. When i called about getting Tmo Web he asked what phone i was using, i told him an iphone and he got excited and asked how hard it was to unlock. I also brought it into a Tmo store to remove a service and add a cheaper one and when the guy read the phone attached to my account he was like "ok, we'll change that right up for you. ...It says you have an... iPhone?" "yup" (i pull it out and his eyes light up) "wow! you son of a gun!"
so im really glad i didnt switch over to att.
