Default Stupid Question: After 1.1.1 is available, how to Upgrade to 1.0.2

Ok guys/gals -- I've successfully unlocked 5 phones for friends. But I'm concerned about being able to unlock phones after the 1.1.1 firmware is released.

I currently use iTunes to update virgin phones to 1.0.2 -- but after 1.1.1 is released, I'm not sure how I'll be able to update virgins phones from 1.0.0/1.0.1 to 1.0.2, without having iTunes directly installing 1.1.1, which might hoop any chances of unlocking for a while until a hack for 1.1.1 is available.

    Thanks in advance...

    ~Same Problem~
Hi Everyone I have this same issue, I have a mate bringing me back a phone from the states (into Australia) mid October I'm not sure what version of the firmware is on existing iphones being sold (around the 8th or October) in the states, But I have a feeling its 1.0.1 with 1.1.1 most likely due out before he gets back, also I haven't updated my itunes its on 7.3.6 (.6 i think) definitely 7.3 is this an issue still ??? or should I go for 7.4.2 ?? thanks for you help.

I think you have to press "Shift" (if you are on a Windows box) when you click "Restore", this will allow you to select which Firmware you want to update to.

    Correct.

    download 1.0.2 here

quick guide to do this... disable auto updating on itunes before you plug your phone in. if your very paranoid disconnect ur internet so theres no chance of accidentally downloading 1.1.1

To load 1.0.2 what you want to do is hold down the POWER and HOME buttons on you iPHONE for roughly 30-45 seconds, this will display a Yellow triangle stating you need to restore your phone. At this point connect to your computer via the usb cable and open itunes where itunes will recognize your phone needs a restore, HOLD SHIFT/OPTION AND HIT RESTORE browse through the file browser for the 1.0.2 restore image you downloaded above and select it. let it do its thing... cheers

On the Mac press and hold the 'Option' key as you hit 'Restore'. iTunes will ask you to locate the firmware file. Select relevant .ipsw file and continue.

    Hope that helps.
