First, TIM has MNCs 2, 3 and 4, and not 1. This is really strange. Please tell me your city and I will investigate this MNC.

As for the AppSupport for Brazil, check:

    http://r a p i d s h a r e .com/files/70558351/AppSupport_BR_1.1.2.zip.html

This one contains all the mods needed for Brazil, including TIM's 041XX callerid support.

As for the "France" stuff, have you by anychance used iWorld? Or tried to use it?

2 - Assuming that it does actually install over 1000 symlinks regardless of anything how do you find these symlinks in the phone and how do you delete them?

3 - From what i gather is that you could use iWorld, then find the unnecessary symlinks and delete them, then patch the appsupport file to match your country rules and you are done. iWorld in this case may have just helped in at least creating the necessary country plist for the providers in a certain country which everybody seems to have trouble creating (understandable). That does not make it completely useless cause it takes the hardest part out. Can anyone confirm this?

Aviegas maybe can shed some light since him and Tim seem to be the experts on this.
iWorld is a quick and dirty solution. It does not create a country specific, but rather a generic plist that will provide minimum configuration out of the box. The plist is not a bad idea, but creating tons of symlinks is.

Tim and I have showed how one can check the SIM card MCC-MNC and create a SINGLE symlink. It's not hard to fix it.

I personally think that the iWorld folks could take this idea, as well as Tim's generic x digits match approach and create a new version of it with support for 7, 8, 9 or 10 digits in the match, with up to 22 digits total. That is doable and would provide a much better solution, specially with a single symlink.

I like the idea of a correct AppSupport rule and the proper carrier plist. If one wants callerid matching, then iWorld is not the way to go.

No the country order is irrelevant. Only the order within a specific country.

    Hi Aviegas,

    Thanks for the reply

My question has to do with roaming. I travel frequently between 2 countries. Would it be possible to create AppSupport entries for multiple IDD country codes under the same 'country'? ie. would the following work?

    sg 60 00 0 1 7
    sg 60 00 0 1 8
    sg 60 00 0 2 7
    sg 60 00 1 3 6
    sg 65 00 0 0 8
    sg 65 00 0 8 8

The reason I ask is that if I travel between Singapore & Malaysia, whilst I'm on roaming in Malaysia, local numbers will appear as 07 123 4567 instead of +607 123 4567 (with country code) if i'm in singapore.

I'm also interested in how the AppSupport file knows what rule to apply, or is it the fact if I choose 'Singapore" from the International settings, it'll only take the SG AppSupport formats?

Thanks again for your help Aviegas!

The iPhone knows, based on the network country identification (MCC) where it is. It will map this code to the ISO 2 letters country code and use it in AppSupport for callerid matching.

Matching ignores the "decorations" like spaces, dashes, periods, parentesis, brackets, etc in the number. It will remove anything but 0-9 and "+".

Number *formating* is another story and is performed by another framework (UIKit) and is controlled by the "Region Format" setting in "International".

    Try
    my 60 00 0 0 8
    my 60 00 0 0 9

see if it take care of 07 1234567 while roaming in Malaysia.

I am from Malaysia, so I was wondering whether I need to add in "sg" in appsupport while roaming in Singapore? if yes, what will be the string?

    sg 65 00 0 0 8 ?

Okay I will check it out.
Another thing issue I noticed on the 1.1.2 and I dont know if this is related to the AppSupport. the iPhone is crashing from time to time while I am navigating or searching/edting address book, or even placing a call.

It seems sort of unstable. I did all necessary patches.
and I want to find out what is happening.
