    • Download pntedit.exe application (see link above)
    • Grab copy of AppSupport from firmware 1.1.2
    • Run "pntedit.exe read AppSupport PhoneNumberTemplates.txt"
    • Edit PhoneNumberTemplates.txt
    • Run "pntedit.exe write AppSupport PhoneNumberTemplates.txt AppSupport.Patched"
    • Replace AppSupport on iPhone with AppSupport.Patched

Delete one of the lines for France with international prefix "40", "50", "70" or "90". This will give you the necessary space to store "001" ... or ... instead of replacing Germany with Thailand, replace Japan with Thailand. Removing Germany frees up only one unique string ("49") but removing Japan frees up two unique strings ("81" and "010"). You need to free up at least two unique strings, for storing the new strings "66" and "001".

    i have this situation:

    here is the settings,
    br 55 00 0 2 8
    br 55 00 0 3 8
    br 55 00 0 4 8

2-8 is for areacode 2 digits (xx) phone number 8 digits (xxxx-xxxx)
3-8 is for areacode 3 digits 0 (xx) phone number 8 digits (xxxx-xxxx)
    4-8 is for operator + areacode 0 41 (11) phone number 8 digits (xxxx-xxxx)

everything working fine with phone receive identification. but, when i receive an SMS, the number is showing in place of a contact. in this particular form:

0 (11) xxxx-xxxx i dont understand why my second rule in table isnt catching it.

my contact is at this format 0 41 (11) xxxx-xxxx

    my carrier only accepts 0 41 (11) XXXX-XXXX or XXXX-XXXX

    i cant use 0 (11) xxxx-xxxx format for contacts.

    btw, timschuerewegen nice work

    cheers,

    cRACKn

    I've tried

    2 8, 3 8, 4 8
    0 8, 3 8, 5 8

But none can handle the wierd combination like the ones in Brazil:

You dial: 041-11-8111-1111 (carrier select, area code number)
Your receive either: 011-8111-111 or 041-11-8111-1111 (with or without carrier select)
SMSs: 011-8111-1111 - never with carrier select

That's why the previous approach was very nice for Brazil: just match the last 8 digits, like all other cell phones do. I do not get why Apple got into this complex algorithm....

    Any suggestions for the settings?

    Hi,

Your program is really cool, but I have just one problem:

I add inside the file PhoneNumberTemplates.txt for my country, Switzerland

    format: +41 79 3965246 / 079 3965246 example

    ch 41 00 0 2 6
    ch 41 00 0 3 7

But it doesn't for some friends who is calling me, do you have any idea for my problem ?

    If "+41 79 3965246" and "079 3965246" should be the same then I think you need to use "ch 41 00 0 2 7".

Can anyone confirm if the following Belgian phonenumber template entries are correct?

    If "00 32 3 646 89 53" (int.) and "03 646 89 53" (loc.) should be equal --> "be 32 00 0 1 7"
    If "00 32 485 28 95 34" (int.) and "0485 28 95 34" (loc.) should be equal --> "be 32 00 0 3 6"

I'm going to see if I can write a small iPhone app that uses the AppSupport framework to normalize, decompose and compare phone numbers.
