You can read the call.db data on the Mac with this app and change it:
http://sourceforge.net/project/downl...use_mirror=umn
I just opened up the file and all the area codes and countries (USA/Canada) is in there.
I was about to change it to my local settings but realized that all the people I know use a cell phone so it doesn't really matter for me![]()
But I hope some of you can use this.
Regards
Martin
Works perfect for me in Germany with the 7 digits version. You're the hero of the day :-)
Thanks it works for México!!!
Finally the number match with the contacts!!!
Used the 7 digit version.
I got a question. What else are we replacing with this file?
Thanks again, finally I don't have to guess who's calling.
Absolutely excellent, much as I'm wary of downloading and running binaries from people I don't know... this is one of the two major bugs for me (the other being voicemail SMS notification i.e. named SMS delivery failure)... the 8-digit version works perfectly for me here in the UK.
There's still some chance of mis-identification theoretically... the longest UK phone numbers (if stored with additional internationalisation) are London ones like:
+44 207 xxx yyyy
Mobile numbers in the UK are stored internationally as:
+44 aaaa xxxyyy
So for utter control you'd probably need a 10-digit version for perfect UK identification, though I bet there's other shit on the UK networks that prevents two virtually identical numbers like 07803 123456 and 08803 123456...
For the time being though, and given that this bug is the main reason for me to want to upgrade to the next firmware version (which will most likely use iPod Touch type firmware to prevent jailbreak and therefore prevent unlock), you've just saved me a LOT of hassle. Seriously. Thumbs up from me, many thanks.
Incidentally, I'd appreciate it if you let us know how this was achieved, so we have some idea as to what was changed in the binary, since everyone sensible is wary of running binaries of some random internet person (however much of a saviour they may be!!!!) No disrespect intended.![]()
So which one would I use if I'm from Australia. The 7 or the 8 digit one? Cheers mate
