OK, Seems to be working now
    Please add

    // Greece [gr]

    gr 30 00 - - ##########
To the templates, this seems to work and is a good first attempt.

But I need to fix the display format.
I tried editing UIPhoneFormats.plist but it makes no diferance.

If I manage to fix the display format will it break the callerid ?

    Default Norwegian Number Format?

    Hi Guys!
I have currently Added the AppSupport to my Iphone (1.1.3 Soft Upgrade from 1.1.2 otb).

Now All my contacts are saved as +4712345678. When someone calls it only displays 12345678, thus matching the contact to the number impossible.
Anyway I can edit something or do i have to change all my 130 contacts in Outlook and sync again?

    Hi Tim,
i tried replacing the files as you described with iphonebrowser on a OTB v1.1.2 iphone and it worked perfectly. However i just updated my iphone to v1.1.3 the the Ziphone tool and now when i use iphonebrowser the folders have all changed and now i can't replace the files...? is there anyway to get around this.. i prefer this method rather than fooling around with winscp etc...

    thanks

I can't make this works, even following all instructions.

I have a OTB 112 unlocked by Geohot method.

I am using iworld and I used iSim to copy all my contacts from my sim to my iphone...

anyone could please give me a help?

    thanks a lot!

    Lightbulb Correct format for greece

    Hello,
I have spent the last two days reading through this thread. I will post a syntax summary shortly which I think would be usefull for newcommers. I realy had to search to find what I needed.

Anyway, there was somewhere a format for greece which IMHO was wrong. I made the same mistake. Also in the download I made of build 9 Greece was not included in the templates.

In greece All numberes are 10 digits, you must always dial 10 digits. So although there is an area code, its length is variable and, most importantly, you cant dial EVER without the area code. You must always dial 10 digits.

    So I make that
    // Greece [gr]
    gr 30 00 - - ##########

I have tested this for two days now and it seems to work.
My phonebook is a mix of +30########## and ##########

Having said that some people may have 7 digit numbers in their phonebooks left over from the old days (pre 1999 ish)
    You could also use
    gr 30 00 - ### ####### WHICH IS WRONG
it is wrong for two reasons
    1. if you have a 7 digit number in your phone book you will get caller id but you cant actually dial the number.
    2. The old system was much more complicated than ### #######.

Having said that if all of your numbers in your phone book are valid 10 digit numbers possibly with the country code then ### ####### will actually work of course
    because ### ####### is a super set of - ##########

But to my mind we should not be matching a number that you cant actually dial so I maintain that
    gr 30 00 - - ##########
Sould be the entry for greece if anyone wants to do something wiered they are free to change it.

    Question Summary

OK I just spent 2 days reading this thread on and off.
Here is a summary of the information that I have gleaned.

I suggest this as a first draft, Tim maybe we could refine it a bit and make it a sticky

iWorld Note, I used iWorld before installing this patch, AFAICS iWorld just patches AppSupport, so since this procedure replaces AppSupport with a new file it is not a problem.
The same can not be said for using iWorld AFTER installing this patch, doing that would be VERY BAD INDEED!

    Download
    http://users.skynet.be/ra045246/

    - Create a directory named "Support" in the /System/Library/Frameworks/AppSupport.framework/ directory
    on your iPhone.
You must have BSD subsystem installed and open ssh

    ssh over to the phone
    e.g from osx terminal
    ssh -l root IPADDRESS_OF_PHONE

    Then type
    cd /System/Library/Frameworks/AppSupport.framework/
    mkdir Support
    CTRL-D

    - Optimize the "PhoneNumberTemplates.txt" file on your PC by moving all templates for your country
to the top of the file and/or removing templates for countries that you don't need.

I strongly recommend removing countries that you dont visit, keep a backup of the txt file you can always add them back later.

SEE BELOW if your country is not listed.

    - Copy the "AppSupport" and "AppSupport.original" files from the zip file to
the /System/Library/Frameworks/AppSupport.framework/ directory on your iPhone.

NB AppSupport.original is not used it is the original file which you can copy back over AppSupport to disable the new functionality.

    - Copy the "PhoneNumber.dylib" and "PhoneNumberTemplates.txt" files from the zip file to
the /System/Library/Frameworks/AppSupport.framework/Support/ directory on your iPhone.

    - Reboot iPhone.

    PhoneNumberTemplates.txt Format

Each line contains a single match expression with the following fields

    #1 = Country Name (abbrev.)
#2 = International Country Calling Code
    #3 = IDD International Prefix
    #4 = NDD National Prefix
    #5 = Area Code Expression
    #6 = Subscriber Number Expression

The first line to match the incoming number is used to break the number into its parts. And then contacts are searched for a match.

#4 and #5 are optional use - to mean NONE
#4 "-" means that there is no NDD prefix, just area codes.
#5 - Ok this does not actually mean no area codes, rather that even local calls need an area code. e.g.

    Incomming call 123 45678
    xx 98 00 - ### #####

    will match
    +9812345678
    12345678
    and 45678
    in contacts

    xx 98 00 - - ########
    will match
    +9812345678
    and 12345678

NDD prefixed by ! means that the NDD is mandatory for non-international numbers.
a : is used to indicate a may or maynot digit (I THINK) but this is only used for Argentina, I dont realy understand the problem there

    There are some abreviations

    xx 1 00 0 - #######
    xx 1 00 0 - ########
    can be written as
    xx 1 00 0 - #######;########

the use of + + + started in this thread with no information about it. I believe it means ditto for the field above, so you could also write the above as
    xx 1 00 0
    + + + + - #######
    + + + + - ########

    Tim,
PLEASE CONFIRM THE SYNTAX OF + and can we combine ; and +
Also can we use + for the aera code ?

Hope this helps some new folk, it represents several hours of wadeing through this thread. So hopefully others dont have to.

    Stuart.

    hi again,

found and downloaded PhoneNumber Dynamic Library build 10, after read the readme instructions, I copied all files and reboot.

it seems to be working fine now, but I am still with the words from tim in my mind asking someone if he used iSim to copy contacts from sim to phone.

I did it, if this is another cause for not working, what should I do? delete and create all my 390 contacts? no problem, I will do that!

update while writing: I did a test and seems the contacts copied using iSIM are not working... need to delete and create again any way to not be necessary to create again, like edit, save, etc?

a problem still happening: the format of numbers is still US format (xxx) xxx-xxxx, can't change it for my country format (brazil), tried everything around the foruns and no way.

and, as a last question (promise), can I uninstall iworld now?

    thanks a lot!

Create 390 contacts NOWAY! I am sure we can fix it.
Can you post an example of how a number appears on the display, how that number is entered in your contacts. And what rules you have in
    PhoneNumberTemplates

NB This patch is ONLY for matching stored numbers, it does not affect the way they are displayed. This is my next chalange.

iWorld only patches AppSupport when it is run. So in fact you can ininstall it right after running it, Unless you use multiple sims. You can definitely uninstall it now.
    I have.
