This is from JSN1 in another thread:
    Hello everybody...

No, reflashing methods failed... I think we need further support.
I have been a lot of hours in front of my computer trying to fix this
damn 1011 error, but tries have been not successful.

I encourage the known hackers to help us with this, let's say that
a custom pwnage tool would help us.

I'm also afraid to say that this problem got a lot of variants.

A friend started to have the 1011 error when he connected his iPhone
to an iPod car charger, it sounds hardware troubles for me.
Mine, I caused the 1011 error on purpose closing BootNeuter while flashing BL.

    Where do we stand?

We have created and researched various solutions for the 1011 error, but this
solution so far helped a little bit of iPhones.
I will not abandon this, as I got 2 iPhones with this error, but we need more help.

    What to expect?

Luckily, there is something in 2.0 *latest that is going to help us.
    :hack: See you later.

Yup. There are 3 threads about 1011. I was going to post it here but dtube made it for me. Thanks.

Actually, this doesn't mean bad news, just a bit more time.
But, it would be cool to get some "devhelp, geohelp or zihelp"

yeap... It's taking too long. We need help. My wife's 1.1.2 otb unlocked with stealthsim sudendly got a "repair needed" message one month ago. I've tried most of methods posted and no solution found...

    Help devguys!

Anybody what about test point? Would it work?

I have now fixed three iPhones that appeared to be unfixable with these various errors and have spent more hours than most people looking into it and experimenting. I know that is not many, but it is a 100% success rate.

IF ANYONE HAS GIVEN UP HOPE AND WANTS ME TO LOOK AT IT FOR FREE I WILL HAPPILY DO SO, IF YOU PAY THE POSTAGE. The satisfaction of getting it working is enough for me.

I think we've shown many times that one person's instructions just can't cover all the possibilities. I have started and participated in several threads about this and it just becomes impossible to deal with everyone's particular situations and help everyone. There are so many subtle behaviours and it gets very confusing for everyone involved whenever someone tries to write out a 'definitive solution'.

Test point A17 will fix most of your 1011 error. Not all, but most of them.
Now Dev Team, geohotz and others are focusing on 2.0 firmware and 3G iphone.
I don't think they are going back to help you guys fixing this error on 1011.

I don't know why you guys are hesitated to open your phone. It's not working anyway. Why not just open it and try the test point A17. Plus 3G is came out. Unlocked 3G is coming with Turbo sim or X-sim. I think a little damage on the housing is nothing since it's an old iphone anyway.

I live in San Diego, CA, US. If anyone lives near my place and need help to open it, you are welcome to my place.

Just a note, Izzard's method of restoring new firmware won't work for corrupted bootloader (waiting for data symptom). Yes, it might work for those who has corrupted baseband, but not bootloader. Remember that restoring firmware won't flash your bootloader, it only flashes your baseband. This is the reason why. So don't wasting your time restoring to 2.0 if you have waiting for data problem. Anyway, I could be wrong!
