The geohot gbootloader code is out there, skipping the check for bootrom blank is what I think JSN1 is trying to accomplish (that's my guess).

here's some info on the wikee:
thanks for the infos..let me ask you something that perhaps you know better. the A17 + geohot gbootloader is a sw+hw procedure or just sw?

    thanks

    hardware + software.
You can find more info on that in the hardware unlock section. I know someone who tried A17 on 1011 and it did not work (probably because the baseband space is not empty in the a17 alternate locations). They weren't kidding when they said permanent brick mode that can be caused by bad/malicious software. (hum .... ziphone ??? or interrupting bootneuter while it's running).

Read post #120. you may want to ask that person.

    Same problem for me.
Did all the steps correctly, after 1' times looping it says to upgrade my bootloader.

It seem that many of us have the bootloader problem before the baseband problem...

I see what you mean..unfortunately the hw method is out of my possibilities..at this point I can only wait and see if a solution comes out...
...or I ll put in the microwave and bring it back to an apple store. The warranty is valid even if the phone is not activated so we will see...
I say this also because I aint sure that my phone has turned into a brick because of something that I have done to it. I have three iphones and I have used for all of them ziphone (now probably I wuold use something else, but this is another story). Two of them are working just fine and the last one all of sudden has stopped working...I believe that some of the iphones out there are just faulty...
I remember the mini ipod I had.. I had to bring it back to apple three times because it was not working properly...

to my knowledge the warranty expires if the iPhone is not activated within 15 days

Hi! I was experiencing same problem here. I tried million times to resotre iPhone to 1.1.4, 1.1.3 even 1.1.1 (1.0.2 was not possible however). Basically I thought the baseband has problem, so I used ZiPhone to erase the base band, which worked in the end. But then the big problem happened. No matter which version of firmware I restore, the Base Band couldn't get updated. It was Blank. No IMEI, No Wi-Fi, No Bluetooth, No ICCID & No Modem Firmware visible.

But one day, I tried flashing it to 1.1.4 again (I think it was like 3consecutive restore to 1.1.4. 3 Times!!!), the IMEI, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth was there!!! I've put the SIM and ICCID came back as well!!! But!! The actual Wi-Fi didn't work. I tried to connect to my home Wi-Fi network, the phone says "Cannot Connect to Network" or something. I didn't do the unlock, only Jailbreak & Activation. I'm guessing the signal won't work either.

So..... Here's question. Do you think at this stage, if I use BootNeuter to flash the Bootloader, will it fix my iPhone?

    * Nevermind that. I just tried restarting iPhone, then again, No IMEI, No Wi-Fi, No Bluetooth etc... etc.. Damn!!
