    Default Solution for EDGE settings not saving on v1.1.2

    Ok. Firstly, I doubt this is a widespread problem, but if you swap sims on an unlocked 1.1.2 you have to re-enter the edge settings and since I use a hypersim with the dualsim, it was a MAJOR annoyance to me.

    To overcome it I used Winscp in windows (I rat it using parallels desktop) to get into the phone then navigate to the following file:

    /private/var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.carrier.plist

    Right click and check properties to find where it links to. Mine linked to another linked file:

    /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/338050

    Now, what I realise is that that number is the MCC+MNC of my operator here in Jamaica, so I figure it will link to the MCC +MNC of your carrier. Anyhow, as I said, this is also a linked file which links to:

    /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support/UnknownCarrier.plist

    I tried editing that but the settings wouldnt stay, so I examined the O2_UK file and realised the differences, did some editing and made a plist file for my operator Digicel and named it DIGICEL_JM the contents of which is below:

    Code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
    <plist version="1.0">
    <dict>
    	<key>AllowEDGEEditing</key>
    	<true/>
    	<key>CarrierName</key>
    	<string>DIGICEL</string>
    	<key>IntlDataRoamingSwitch</key>
    	<true/>
    	<key>ShowCallForwarding</key>
    	<false/>
    	<key>ShowCallForwarded</key>
    	<false/>
    	<key>ShowDialAssist</key>
    	<false/>
    	<key>ShowTTY</key>
    	<true/>
    	<key>SupportedSIMs</key>
    	<array>
    		<string>338050</string>
    		<string>33805</string>
    	</array>
    	<key>SupportsNITZ</key>
    	<true/>
    	<key>VisualVoicemailServiceName</key>
    	<string>ACDS</string>
    	<key>apns</key>
    	<array>
    		<dict>
    			<key>apn</key>
    			<string>wap.digiceljamaica.com</string>
    			<key>password</key>
    			<string>wap03jam</string>
    			<key>username</key>
    			<string>wapuser</string>
    		</dict>
    		<dict>
    			<key>apn</key>
    			<string>wap.digiceljamaica.com</string>
    			<key>password</key>
    			<string>wap03jam</string>
    			<key>username</key>
    			<string>wapuser</string>
    		</dict>
    	</array>
    	<key>voicemail_context</key>
    	<integer>1</integer>
    </dict>
    </plist>
    I then created a link file to DIGICEL_JM and named the link file 338050 replacing the one that was originally there, I reinserted my sim and my edge settings were there automatically

    You can create your own by changing the relevant info that applies to you.

    Hopefully this info isnt new and hopefully someone can write a better guide than I did, yeah, i know I suck at this lol.

    Anyhow, later dudes

    All of this is old news and it's a well known behaviour since the 1.1.1, with chages for 1.1.2.

    SIM card swapping is a trigger to MCC+MNC phone reconfiguring (and as far as I know it's the only confirmed trigger). In order to properly use any mobile operator in iPhone (be it with a multiSIM or just plain SIM swapping) the profile for that operator needs to be known to iPhone.

    The details are described in several other threads.
