[Solution] Broken 1.1.3 Baseband.. "Need Repair"
Hi, everyone who tried to softunlock their iphones and got stuck/freezed while having a 4.03.13 baseband or unlocked using ICE04.03.13_G.fls, try this solusion:
This guide is for people who already tried to restore to 1.1.3 via iTunes, but still having "Need Repair" popup.
This Guide is for iPhones with Bootloader 4.6 from week < 48.
Since week >=48 phones can't be downgraded to 1.0.2 you have to try some other solution, sorry.
What you need:
FW 1.0.2: http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite....8_Restore.ipsw
PXL Files/Apps for iBrickr: http://iphone.exploit.org/pxl/index2.html
PACAY: http://rapid$hare.com/files/57607057/PACAY.zip (replace $ with s)
iTunes: 7.5 worked for me. No Idea about 7.6
AND ALOT OF PATIENCE! All processes via iTunes are taking longer as they usually do!
1. Downgrade to 1.1.1
2. Start iBrickr and run 1.0.2 downgrade... follow the instructions on iBrickr
3. If iBrickr doesn't manage to Jailbreak your iPhone, run PACAY (this one worked for me)
Notice: When the jailbreak is in process and it says "Good bye". DON'T turn your phone off.. Jailbreaking is still in process!
4. After Jailbreak install BSDSubsystem-1.5.pxl and MobileTerminal-VT100-svn161.pxl via iBrickr
5. Upload Gunlock files to /usr/bin and run the MobileTerminal
chmod +x gunlock
launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
gunlock secpack ICE04.03.13_G.fls
launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
7. if you get 16(Resource busy)
try to unload -w /System/.... hard-restart iphone and try again
still getting that message? Try enable "AirPlain Mode"
If you get the evil "scrolling of text and rebooting"-loop on 1.0.2: Try AppTappInstaller/iBrickr or PACAY.
Notice: When the jailbreak is in process and it says "Good bye" DON'T turn your phone off.. Jailbreaking is still in process!
If this doesn't work, try to upgrade your phone to a higher firmware again and start over again.
All this worked for me.
Hope it helps..

As far as I know only phones from week 47 and less can be restored to 1.0.2 firmware, so this won't work for everyone. Or is there a way to restore it in newer phones?
It worked with me!
Hi mlk, i did it couple days ago cause i was missing wifi. I even "broke" the baseband on purpose with ienew so i upgraded back to 1.1.3 and started over but the wifi is still missing so i guess it won't fix all the problems.
I really think the wifi/bluetooth is eeprom dependant. We need a way to write that.

We really need a solid solution. It seems to be pure luck when people are getting this solution right.
By the way, I fucked up by using the ICE04.03.13_G.fls baseband during the unlock process after having upgraded to 1.1.3 to restore my baseband. Just a heads up for the rest of us.
By the way, I follow instructions pretty good and got the first version of the gunlock files where it said to use the ICE04.03.13_G.fls with 1.1.3 OTB iPhones. I think George was pretty tired when he gave those instructions. There was also this tutorial that I stupidly copied from one of the comment authors on George's blog.
1. Downgrade your iPhone to 1.0.2
2. Jailbreak with AppTapp installer
3. Install BSD Subsystem and Open SSH
4. Copy the files to /usr/bin in you iphone directory
5. Open a SSH connection with PuTTY
6. Kill CommCenter: launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
7. cd /usr/bin/
8. gunlock secpack ICE04.02.13_G.fls (for ootb1.1.3 Phones us the ICE04.03.13_G.fls file)
9. Drink a coffee
10. Reload CommCenter: launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
11. Jailbreak you iPhone to 1.1.2 using OktoPrep
The author can be referenced there.
I will hope and pray now for some answers. Tried everything else.
N.B. This is a 1.1.2 OTB week 42 UK iPhone
Share what you know.
2.4ghz MacBook Pro
Original Firmware: 1.1.1
I've made the same mistake. Tthat is, tried to unlock my 1.1.3/4.03.13 iPhone using a 4.03.13 firmware and not 4.02.13, per Geohot's instruction.
I've followed the same retarded instructions, btw. Its a pitty people post things they dont know if it works (and haven't even tested), and brick someone elses iPhone with those instructions.
At least, you SHOULD be able to downgrade/jailbreak/activate on 1.0.2 (which doesn't need wifi nor keypad while locked/unactivated). Can't really confirm that, since you're using an UK based phone.
I have a week 48 phone, and will try that 1.0.2 too. But I'm not really confident it will work.
It looks like we will be forced to do the comm board trick, or even worse, hope that 1.1.4 can unbrick our phone (into an ipod touch state).

CIA: No wonder you get the errors, everyone does. Just try to boot the iPhone with iBrick afterwards (if the screen is green, just restore again) and you will get to the activation screen. That's probably all you can do, though.. The solution mentioned above only works for those who have iphone from week 47 or older.
Hi, I'm just trying this out. Managed to donwgrade to 1.0.2 alright, but the iBrickr Jailbreak just produces a lot of scrolling white text, and restarts the phone time and time again. Is that what happened with you?

UPDATE: Found the old PACAY version. Tried it, but it couldn't install the files. Couldn't get it to work with iDemocracy either.

Same here, and its bloody annoying. If any body has any ideas on how to fix the problem, please share it.
The recovery mode doesnt work, and it doesnt stay on the "plug into itunes" screen long enough for me to use iTunes or iBrickr to do anything.
Try apptapp to get out of recovery mode. You can find it on http://iphone.unlock.no/
