Lightbulb [Solution] Avoid Accidental Update to 1.1.3

    Hi There,

Found the following and tested it on 1.1.2 OTB US (and did'nt found any on this forum):
    http://www.iphon.fr/post/2008/01/20/...ise-a-jour-113

For non native french speackers, it is a small tool that fakes itunes and let him believes your running 1.1.3.

[TBC] One installation tool for 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 (/TBC]
One deinstalltion tool for 1.1.1 and one for 1.1.2.

One that could reduce the number of bricks in the following days.

    LOL.
In itunes: goto File: preference: uncheck the "check for updates automatically"

If Itunes mentions there is a new update available: check "don't ask again", and click cancel.

    How simple could it be?

True, but doen't work if you're using other pc/mac than yours as you don't want to put your settings on sbd else computer.
It is just a way of precaution, dont forget the brick could be 650 over europe . And you are free not to use it !

    Cheers

I only clicked on "Cancel" and afterwards... iTunes wasn't mounting my iPhone anymore = no synch!

So I opted for the risky way: re-connected iPhone, checked "Don't ask again" *and* clicked "Download only". Now 1.1.3 is sitting there, waiting for me to click "Update" or "Restore"

iTunes will never upgrade your firmware without asking you if you want to ...

Just read the messages it displays!

Very nice method. I dont know you but I have a 5 years old son, he likes my iphone a lot and is always using it. I was afraid that he could update the iphone by accident, the same goes for my wife and other curious parents.

You couldalways disconnect the computer from the internet when you dock the iphone. this was, it wo't even ask if you want to update.

ps: you are very brave in letting a 5yr old handle an iphone. ( imagine the damages/scratch/smudge marks on the iphone )
