Solution for 1.1.2 OTB Upgrades To 1.1.3 That lose Installer Icon
For my sins I decided to upgrade to 1.1.3 last night from 1.1.2 unlocked via Geohot Unlock.
My phone is a 1.1.2 OTB with BL 4.6.
I used the iclarified installer method (dev team release) to update to 1.1.3. Went swimmingly - 30 mins later I was on 1.1.3 and unlocked. However I had no installer icon. I've seen a number of posts on here with the same issue but no definitive resolution. A few people suggested to try Ziphone which I did several times but it was unable to restore the installer icon.
If you are in the same situation, this is what I did to get the icon back. Before you go any further I suggest you sync your phone with Itunes so that a backup of your data is created. I thought I had done this having unchecked the sync box against a couple of a couple of movies I wanted to remove and free up space. This changes the sync button to an Apply button within Itunes. To my cost I found out that THIS DOES NOT SYNC THE PHONE FULLY. If you make any changes click apply and then the button will return to a sync button. Click the sync button to fully backup your phone. Not doing this will mean you lose your SMS/Photos etc. up until the date of your last backup (mine was Dec 12th )
The steps I then followed were:
- download the 1.1.2 firmware from Apple if you don't have it aready from previous jailbreaks.
- within itunes - hold shift and click on the restore button and navigate to the 1.1.2 firmware file.
- your phone will now be restored back to 1.1.2
- boot up Ziphone and activate/jailbreak/unlock. You will now be unlocked on 1.1.2 and your installer icon will be back.
- follow the iclarified installer update to 1.1.3:
-boot up ziphone and activate/jailbreak/unlock. You will now be unlocked on 1.1.3 and your installer icon will be back.
At this point I had no service so powered down and rebooted after which, the signal appeared.
Now back in itunes, you can restore your backup and you will have all your photos, sms, videos and music that you had before except you're now on 1.1.3
