Default Should I Restore To Facory Setting? iTunes Error

I just bought a new unlocked 1.1.1 iPhone and I try syncing it with my PC but this is the error i am getting when i connect my iphone to itunes.

"iTunes cannot read the contents of the iphone "^1". go to the summary tab in the iphone preferences and click restore to restore this iPhone to factory settings."

Well I can't get any songs on my iPhone so what is my options? Will i have to restore it and then jailbreak it again? Will I be able to put songs on it after I've jailbreaked it again? Is there any risk of screwing it up?

I have the same issue. After doing a restore of 1.1.3 and running Ziphone again it then works for the first sync in iTunes. However, once I have taken the phone out of the dock and connect to the mac again it comes up with the 'iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPhone' message.

I don't know the answer to this.

I have wondered if it is perhaps due to running Ziphone 2 on the PC and iTunes 7.5 and then trying to sync to a Mac on iTunes 7.6?
