sendsong v.09 and ringtones
I'm stuck tryingint to make ringtones as i cant seem to get it to work for me.
i have lets say 3 ringtones, all in mp3 format,
1. i click and drag them to my music library in itunes
2. convert them to aac
3. then rename them to ext .m4a (send song only works if its .m4a)
4. create a playlist for those new ringtone files
5. sync them to my iphone
here is the kicker, in tunes they play fine but on my iphone when i try to play them i hear nothing, they dont play at all and i'm wondering why is that?
what steps am i missing to make this work, i wish to add custom ringtones using sendsong on a 1.1.1 iphone.
any ideas would be helpful

I found that renaming the extension to m4a does not work.
This is how I made it work for mp3 files and sendsong:
Open iTunes
Right-click on the mp3 file you wish as a ringtone
Convert selection to AAC
Now you have an mp3 and a m4a file.
I deleted the mp3 file and sinc the m4a file with the iphone.
Hope this helps
If at first you don't succeed, don't try skydiving

ok i tried that.
i verify the m4a files play on my iphone
i then use sendsong to send to ringtones
but when i go to settings and check for them they are not there.
i tried powering it off and on and no luck.
thanks for the help.
i can feel i'm very close to making it work now,
this is way easier than ssh or those other command line methods,
i like sendsong if i can just get it to work right now...

Sendsong works fine for me. I just browse the mp3s on my phone, hit the button, and it is available as a ringtone.

well i dont see how that can be, the author says it wont work with mp3 files
it has to be in m4a format
i can add the songs to the sendsong list
but when i check settings sounds, they are not there.
i've tried various methods. creating the mp3 in itunes, converting it to aac
also i've tried syncing up the mp3 format and the m4a version and neither one appear
sendsong will see and i can add it to the list to send to ringtones but they simply dont appear in my settings sounds menu

well i only nkow how to add apps to my iphone via the app installer which does this via wifi.
so i see there is a new version .19 but unless the author packages it for wifi access i dont know how tog et it on the iphone.
i using english characters like 24ctu.m4a or crank.m4a
i've tried everything. i launch sendsong i select the song and i choose send to ringtone, if i hit the edit button i see a list of 2 or 3 that i've picked.
all tracks i've picked are but a few seconds long they are very short.
i'm not into songs for ringtones rather i have cellular sounding ringtones, like the one from 24 tv series and the one ffrom the movie Crank.
but i'm just not having any luck but i'll keep an eye out for new version to see if i can d/l it to my wifi.

i'm curious, this being a 3rd party app for iphone who maintains or makes it available for the installer.app?
on my iphone i have a program called installer.app which via wifi d/l the latest STE packages.
but i dont see version .19 available and i'm wondering is that something erica has to publish and package or it that done by nullriver?
is it nullriver who patrols the web looking for updates and publishes them onto his server so the iphone can d/l them?

ok version .19 is now available for d/l
i installed it
and exact same problem
i can send to ringtone but when i got to ringtone menu its jsut not there
if i use winSCP i can see the ringtone file is in the ringtone folder, so clearly the file is getting sent there
what i do notice is the ringtone.pblist file is not where it should be though, on my iphone its in the library/intunes control/itunes
its inside the itunes folder when i've read it should be in the ..control folder instead
i tried moving files but i get permission denied. i dont know enough about winscp yet.
