    @Cathul.
    Im stuck at step5 part3.
    After i chose my WIFI and i try to jailbreak (www.jailbreakme.com), safari loads the AppSnapp screen, and then it quickly dissaapears and goes back to the "Activate Iphone" with the Earth behind it. Thats fine, but it DOESNT reboot, and i cant get to the Spring board. It seems i cant install appsnapp or something, at any rate, the jailbreak method seems to crash there. Any suggestions?
    thanks

    Do this step again. Sometimes you have to repeat this step several times to get it working. Oh, and pray you don't have a 1.1.1 restore file in which apple fixed the tiff exploit (don't know if they really did that though, as i used a restore file which is several weeks old).

    see i thought about that, but ive read several threads claiming that the the tiff exploit fix is a mith :s
    Are there any links to an older 1.1.1restore file? I DID download mine straight from the apple site....

    Also is there a diff between jailbreakme.com and jailbreak.toc2rta.com
    Should i try one or the other?

    The first time i unjailed my iPhone i used jailbreak.toc2rta.com, but as most of the following steps are automatic when using jailbreakme.com it's a nobrainer now. Use jailbreakme.com. It's easier and faster. I can only recommend this way of jailbreaking/activating....

    And sorry, i don't have another url for the restore file, but this doesn't seem to be your problem as your safari crashes when visiting jailbreakme.com and clicking on install appsnap, so the tiff hole is still there on your iPhone.

    Jailbreakme did not work with the last 3 new OOB 1.1.1's I tried (Tiff exploit worked, but nothing ever got installed, no reboots etc). I then used toc2rta followed by Carnaval, which worked just fine. Something weird about jailbreakme on some phones- and it's not the tiff exploit that's at fault. Fortunately there are other methods available

    i don't believe apple have fixed the tiff exploit in any 1.1.1 firmware- there is another reason that jailbreakme does not work sometimes, and it's phone related. You know the tiff exploit has worked if you're returned to the activation screen...

    Updated to 1.1.2 using this thread. Worked very good. I'm most happy with the text-sms voicemail notification for missed calls (the one and only reason I could not wait uograding) !!! Thanks and greetings from Belgium, with B Mobistar

    Updated to 1.1.2. Works OK but just experimenting with different activation methods via lockdownd and iasign. Not sure I should expect to see any difference...
